That sounds more like trauma swelling or infection than allergies, especially if it didn't respond to antihistamines. I would take her to the doctor immediately.
Then, I'd find a new daycare provider. If one of my kids woke up from nap with that kind of swelling, I'd be on the phone immediately to the parents. The fact that they were so unconcerned about it and waited over 3 hours for you to pick-up before letting you know is unacceptable.

It could be a bug bite. Did you put ice on it? Always put ice on a swelling. I would call her doctor or see if they have a 24 nurse line through her clinic and call the nurse line. If you have no other options call a local ER and ask to speak to a nurse.

You could also try a paste made with meat tenderizer and water put on the swelling. If it is a bug or spider bite the tenderizer will break down the venum.

Take a PHOTO of it.
Take her to the Doctor.
See what is wrong.

I would call the doc and see what they suggest. It could be a bug bite. Or anything. But the swelling would worry me. Has it gotten worse or stayed about the same? Most docs have an after hrs number I would see what they said. They have more insight on if this is something that might progress over night or clear up.

My daughter had a similar reaction after being bitten or stung at a pool party. We have no idea what kind of bug it was. Her ped said to give her double doses of Benadryl.

I would. They can give her a small dose of steroids and that will take the swelling out.
