Cari,
I have always been allergic to cats (sniffling sneezing and red puffy itchy eyes especially if I touch them) but my husband had two when we got married so I inherited them. After a few months my allergies lessened and then went away but when I got pregnant they came back. I even broke out in small rashes (red patches and occasianally hives) wherever I had touched them which had never happened before I was pregnant. I just did what I had done originally which was not to avoid touching them and eventually the allergies went away again. It sounds a little different from what you are experiencing but I definately think being pregnant made my allergies worse. There is an anti-itch lotion called Sarna that you can get over the counter at any drug store. My doctor recommended it to me for a rash I had and I have heard lots of people rave about it. My rash went away before I got the lotion though so I can't say from personal experience if it works or not.
