its absolutly possible and if i were you i would talk to you pediatrician about it. my son is very allergic and asthmatic and those were his first signs at a young age. also I breastfed him for 1 1/2 years so if you do breastfeed dont be led to belive that it means he is safe from allergies.

Hi, I heard that kids don't usually get allergies until they're about two years of age...that's not necessarily true...I use to feed my son oatmeal cereal from Gerber when he was a few months old...he would get very sick, throw up and cry an awful lot and I couldn't figure out why, I just thought he just didn't like it. My son's allergist confirmed his allergies to oats when he was about a year old, I never knew anyone could be allergic to oats! He is seven now and he still can't eat it! My son has many allergies, including environmental and food allergies, so as a baby he was showing symptoms of those allergies. It could be a cold, but I would not rule out on the allergy issue...it is difficult to find out for sure...doctors are usually hesitant to test young kids for allergies. I'd be very persistant about it. Good luck!!!!

Hi R., it's possible to a baby to have respiratory allergies, like sneezing, coffing and watery eyes. My daughter who is 6 mo has the same and the pediatrician said yes for this kind of allergies.

It may jsut be a cold, when my daughter was little she got symtoms like that from a clogged tear duct. I didn't think children could develop food allergies until they were at least 2.

As far as know, pediatricians say children don't develope allergies until around 2 years old, unless it is a food allergy, those can occur at any age. She could just be affected by the change in weather.

I have to agree that it is probably just a cold. My son used to have problems with his eyes whenever he had a cold. Many times it was the only apparent symptom. You might want to bring him to the doctor to confirm it is not an infection though because that is possible too.

absolutely yes! my son has always had allergies.. try getting an air purifier for her room. saline spray for his nose if she'll let you do that. not much you can do about wattery eyes, my son has them too. I don't think you can give allergy meds to a baby that young, but check with your ped and ask. you can also bump up one end of the crib a little to help her drain her sinuses... good luck

my first born had an alergy at thet age to pollen so it is possible for them to get them have you try any new foods that she hasnt yet cause that can also trigger a reaction if its just watery eyes its just a mild reaction if she starts breaking out with hives all over her body then thats a bad thing i would get help right a way and i would keep a list of every thing your little one goes near or eats and if your a breastfeeding mom she be reacting to something you have recently eaten also but dust is and dander are also common for watery eyes just keep an eye on her im sure she will be fine and if you think she has an alergy keep a supply of benadryl in your medicane cabinet and call your doctor for the correct dose for your childs age and size.

Are you breastfeeding? If so, it is very unlikely that it is allergies. If not, you may want to try a different formula. Also try changing the detergent you wash your clothes in and add an extra rinse to the cycle (Dreft is good, if you're not using this already.)

You could also add an air filter to the room(s) where your baby spends most of her time. This is a good idea on general principle anyway.

More likely than not, she just has a little cold or upper respiratory thing. If she's normal size, you probably don't have to worry so much about RSV or the other nasties, but if she seems to have any wheezing, spikes a fever, etc., call your dr without delay.

Don't be afraid to bother your pediatrician if it will put you at ease...if they didn't want phone calls from worried new mommies, they would have become foot doctors :-)

Congrats on your new baby girl...enjoy her!

My son had this problem at the same age while we were waiting to close on our house we were living with my in-law and they have a cat. My sons eyes would tear and run everytime we walked in the door. We went on vacation for a week and he was fine when we walked in the door he started again he was allergic to the cat.
