Hello Mommy's outthere,

My 4 year old is suffering on allergies. He had always a congested nose and I always gave him Zyrtec which does not seem to help. I even tried different brands like Claritin and Allegra but they do not seem to help him much. Two days ago he played outside all day and that night his face swell a bit and he seems to have little tiny rashes on his face and neck very puffy eyes and dark circles. Again very stuffed and of course sleeps very bad. He is a kid that gets sick alot:( I feel so bad for him. So my question to you guys is, have you guys tried any alternative medicine or an allergist that helped your little one?

Please I need help as I feel desperate.

Thank you so much mommy's.

God bless you all.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you so much for your responses girls. Today we went to an allergist and he prescribed Singular. He said we will have to do shots after we know what he is allergic to. We are also still taking Benadryl as he cannot sleep from itching :( I asked him about the doc abour allergy drops but he does not do it in his practice yet. He also mentioned that insurance would not cover the sublingual immunotherapy:( AivaLight how much do you pay out of pocket for the s. immunotherapy? I don't know what the difference is between that and the shots. MamaR thank you I will definetly try a different honey. We were using the one from Costco Nature Nate's but I will check for more local honey as my sons's physician mentioned local bee pollen. And I will definetly will take him to a ENT specialist to check his adonoids, it could be the case besides the allergys. Thank you for your time and help

We are giving your 4 years old daughter Sublingual immunotherapy. It looks like it starts to work, but it require a time, about 3-4 months to see a first result. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sublingual_immunotherapy

A..N. We pay $240 for three months supply, $80 for every month. Insurance doesn't cover it. This spring she didn't have any problem with her congested nose A. all! I hope you son will be better soon! Good luck!

You can try local honey. It has to be local, usually within 50 miles of your home, in order to work. Make sure it's raw honey, the filtered stuff has no pollen and won't do a thing. 1-2 tbs a day. We used it for my son when he was younger and after about 3 weeks his allergies were much better.

No advice for the rash and puffy eyes, and this may not be the case for you, but worth mentioning. We had been treating my son's allergies for years, and things seemed to get mildly better with meds, but nothing gave him true relief. He sounded stuffy all the time. It was like he constantly had a cold. Everyone chalked it up to Texas allergies. He was also a snorer, which the doctor said was related to his allergies. His last check up (my son is now 9), I pressed a little harder and the doc referred us to an ENT. Come to find out my son had HUGE adnoids and enlarged tonsils. And his slight allergies seemed like horrible allergies because he already couldn't breathe. When seeing the ENT, he said he was surprised my child did not suffer from ear and throat problems or didn't get sick often...he said there was a correlation. After getting his tonsils and adnoids removed, the snoring is gone and he is more rested. We haven't had to do ANY allergy meds A. all. So this may not be your child's case, but might be worth looking into.
