Allergy to Goodnights?

My daughter has a lot of trouble with allergies that mainly show up as various rashes here and there. We've had some allergy testing done and one thing that came back was dust, so lots of time she is rashy we just figure she was in something dusty. Well, a few months ago we tried going without nighttime pull-ups (we've been using goodnights because they were on sale). Now, looking back, her allergies were better then. Now we've started using them again and her allergies are worse again - lots more rashes. Has anyone ever heard of an allergy to goodnights (or other nighttime pull-ups)? And, if so, what are our other options? She needs a big size so I haven't seen lots of options in the store. Thanks, moms!

What can I do next?

I would buy a reusable version that you can wash and dry in your regular detergent. That may eliminate or minimize the problem. My DD had rashes with some brands of diaper and good nights and similar are basically diapers. It is absolutely possible.

Perhaps try something like http://www.superundies.com/p-45-bedwetting-pants-nighttim...

FYI, I would expect dust to give her respiratory allergies, but other allergies to show up as rashes, tummy pain, headaches and nausea. I suspect that your DD has allergies not on the test. My DD is allergic to apples ONLY if she eats them. She can roll around in an orchard and be fine, but eat one? Bam! She's suffering. It does not show up on the scratch test but the allergist said to consider the history more than the scratch.

I know that my friend's daughter was allergic to one of the brands of overnight pull-ups. I don't remember which, but it's definitely something that can happen. You should probably switch brands. You can try Huggies Nighttime Pull-Ups or Pampers Underjams.

Yes they can be. My daughter is allergic to the Pampers brand of nightpants, and so we have to use the Goodnites. We tried cloth, but she just goes too much and it soaked her bed every single night for 2 weeks. Finally, I told her she needed to go back to disposables, and she is really a lot happier. You could try putting a diaper cream barrier between her and the pull ups, or maybe a piece of cloth or something? that way the part she is allergic to won't touch her skin.

Is it possible she is eating something that she is mildly allergic to? Like when my little one eats too many peanuts her eczema, which shows up on her backside, flares. A few are fine, but not a lot. Milk does it to her, but really bad, so she drinks goat milk. So, it could be something else. And finally, she may be getting burned by the urine. If this is the case, the doc told us to put baking soda in a bath just deep enough to cover the rash parts and let her soak for 10 minutes. Do this 3 or 4 times a day and the change is amazing! I have been surprised by how well this works. Some mornings she just get up and gets in the soda water.

I hope you figure it out!

My son was allergic to Pampers so we always had to go with Huggies. I think pampers have more perfumes in them. Try a different brand and see if it helps.

My daughter was allergic to one of the disposable diapers, but she's almost 14 now and I can't remember which ones. So yes, she could be allergic. Good luck.

Sure, kids can be allergic to disposable diaper brands, they have chemicals and perfume in them. Maybe a cloth diaper/training pant option would be a better choice if she has allergies/skin sensitivities.

My daughter is very allergies to Huggies brand. I used it for both my older boys with no issue. Either they changed them or my daughter is just not able to wear them. She got diaper rashes so bad when she was a baby that they would bleed. We tried pullups by Huggies once when she was old enough and she had problems with those too.
I wish Costco's Kirkland brand made pull-ups. When we switched to Kirkland diapers she didn't have any of the problems she did with Huggies.
