I don't see why not. The person who wrote the recipe probably is vegan, has a dairy allergy or lactose intolerance, etc.
I just saw a recipe for cookies that sound pretty yummy and are pretty darn healthy but the recipe calls for a 1/4 cup of almond milk. Since no one in this house would ever drink or consume almond milk except for the tiny amount in this recipe is it possible to just use cows milk instead? I NEVER bake so please don't laugh if this sounds like a ridiculous question
Thanks in advance
The recipe
3 mashed bananas (ripe)
1/3 cup applesauce
2 cups of oats
1/4 cup almond milk
1/2 cup raisins (optional)
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon
Bake at 350 for 15-20 mins

of course!
but you might want to re-think your almond milk aversion (i'm rather surprised at your vehemence.) no actual need for it if no one in your house is lactose intolerant, but almond milk, especially the unsweetened vanilla variety, is da bomb. i'm a huge raw milk advocate, but when i can't get it raw and organic (i have to drive to another state to get it so i'm usually milk-less) i use almond milk over boiled processed nutrient-deficient commercial milk.
yum!

Should be fine. You could add a drop or two of almond extract if you wanted the almond undertones.
Have you ever tried it? We love vanilla almond milk!
(I'm sure reg milk is fine though.)
Okay so first a plug for almond milk - healthier and more easily digested! My kids left cows milk over 5 years ago.
If you get the sweetened almond milk you need less, I would do 1/2 water.
You can get the unsweetened kind - then use it as normal.
Try the almond milk, you may just be surprised.

Absolutely. Or coconut milk. I started swapping out cow's milk for almond or coconut milk in all my baking, pancakes/waffles, pudding etc and the only comments I get are "yummy!" when I use coconut milk, because it has a slightly sweeter taste.
You can, you will just lose that little bit of nutty flavor the almond milk adds. Almond milk is all my oldest will drink, he loves the stuff.
Yes you could use milk. Sounds like they are providing a vegan option. If you use almond milk, no one will know it. Either one is fine.
Absolutely you can substitute any wet liquid in place of the Almond Milk.
Nice recipe too, thanks for posting!
Yes, it's fine. Skim or 2% might be closer but don't go out of your way.
We only use almond milk but I am sure you can use cow milk.
As the others have said, you can use cow's milk, almond milk, coconut milk, whatever.
I just had to comment on the recipe...I tried that a few months ago and won't bother with it again. What was your result? I thought it was just a heavy, gloppy mess. Flour and leavening are in cookies for a reason!
I would try the cow's milk. Looking at the recipe below, it seems to be an attempt at vegan cookies, as it doesn't require eggs or butter, either. Cow's milk should work just fine. I have substituted soy milk for cow's milk in many recipes and never had a problem.
I would definitely substitute cow's milk and if it didn't work, then I would just find another cookie recipe. I can't stand the flavor or texture of non-dairy "milk." I've tried soy, rice, almond, and coconut, and I threw them all out after one taste.
