Has anyone used an acupuncturist or alternative dr. for your child's condition(especially acupuncture)? If so, was it helpful? What condition did the person treat? There is an interesting article in Parenting magazine that states that accupuncture can be very successful in treating allergies and asthma. Has anyone had this experience snf ehivh type of alternative treatment did you use?

So What Happened?

My son was suffering from frequent episodes of regurgitation due to a mysterious post nasal drip for almost 9 weeks. He threw up so much that he lost 2 lbs in a matter of weeks. The first week that I took him to accupuncture it subsided and in the second week it has just about stopped. I am so elated about his progress and I just wanted to share my experience in order to help someone else.

I have tried acupuncture with my daughter - she is now 16 and started acupuncture when she was about 14-15. She is ADD - and suffered from nighttime enuresis. It did seem to work for a while - however, my daughter chose not to go anymore - to which I respected her decision.

I was truly amazed that it was working for her. I guess she just found it easier to take the meds than go back and forth weekly to the doctor to get 'pricked'.

What were you going to use it for?

Hi N.,

I shop from a company that has products without harmful ingredients in them. My daughter had very bad allergies and they were eliminated when I started using them. There are so many chemicals and preservatives in cleaning and laundry products and they remain on our clothes and bodies even after washing them. Make-up, pharmaceuticals, shampoos, soaps, they all have preservatives to give them a longer shelf life. The great thing about them too is they are no more expensive than grocery store prices.

Hi - I am a licensed acupuncturist who just gave up her practice to become a full time mom of a wonderful 5 month old little girl. I loved treating kids, and have been treating my daugther as needed. I took many post-graduate courses in pediatric acupuncture, herbology, and other techniques. Acupuncture is great for many ailment, including allergies and asthma. I found that needle insertion in kids under age 7 is not usually necessary, instead I used special tuning forks that create sound and vibration over certain acupuncture points. This technique is not painful at all and kids actually enjoy the treatment.

Hi N.,

My son has had allergies and asthma since about 2 years old. After he was getting sick to much, I started to read alot and found many articles on natural treatments. I changed many things in my home and my life and find that we are definately living healthier lives. My chiropractor has a 3 year old girl who has asthma. After 3 weeks of treatment, she is on half the medicine the doctors put her on for the asthma. I hear many of the same stories. I think it is definately worth trying. I really think you will see a difference.
