Hi A.,

My daughter is 12 years old and has ADHD. Last school year, she was not on meds and barely passed the 6th grade. The whole school year was dreadful, and I want this new one to be 10x better. Meds make me nervous because they are amphetamine based and have side effects like loss of appetite. We just moved to NH. Are these places anywhere near the Concord, NH area? I'm not very educated on these alternative methods and don't understand a lot of the terminology.

Hi A.,
I have never heard of those things you mentioned, but we have had GREAT success with our first grader by changing his diet (no artificial colors, additives, preservatives). We also use vitamins and supplements. It has been a real trial and error process, but so worth it. If you are interested in hearing about his protcol and some of the websites I have found, please let me know. And hang in there...there is hope.
God Bless, V. <><

NO I have not but have you tried changing the food such as chocolate colored cereals and cafine? This may help more than anything else.

Hi -
My coworker is taking her son to Active Healing, below is an email that she had sent to a friend of ours describing what they are doing:

Update**** My coworker did compare the DORE program (went to a 2 hour presentation in Needham) and they thought that the Active Healing program offered a much more effective program that was more customized for a lot less money and included evaluations every 2 months. *****

Here is the info on the movement program they are doing for their son in case you want to pass it along.

The program is known to help children/adults who suffer from any neurological disorders such as ADHD, Autism, Asperger’s, Dyslexia, Cerebal Palsy, Epilepsy.

The gentleman’s name is Sargent Goodchild. He is his own success story. As a young child, he had Epilepsy and Cerebal Palsy, experienced many seizures weekly, was on all different meds, etc. His story as he relates it is amazing, but, long story short, his parents began this exercise program with him and, today, he has no signs of any disorder, no seizures, is married and has a young son, is an avid mountain biker and does this for a living because he knows it will help!

She saw a brief news segment on the 11:00 News that sparked her call and our decision to try this program in order to help her son with his ADHD.

Here’s a link to the news segment: http://wbztv.com/health/adhd.attention.deficit.2.627508.html

His place is up in Gloucester and is “no frills” – bottom level of office building with gym mats and toys – not sterile like a doctor’s office – not intimidating at all but very relaxed. Their son was comfortable right off the bat.

In a nutshell, she and her husband had their son evaluated and Sarg trained us to do specific exercises (at home) with him every morning/night. Somehow, these exercises help to inhibit the early development reflexes which can re-train what’s been mis-wired. They go back up to Gloucester every 2 mos. for re-evaluation and adjustments to the exercise program as their son progresses.

Her Son has been doing the exercises for 6 weeks now. His program is probably going to be 18 mos but, they are already seeing a change in him at home and at school. (knock on wood).

He has been on a “green” good behavior card for 4 straight weeks now. Prior to this, he was unable to stay on the “green” card for more than 2 days straight and this is just the beginning…MOST IMPORTANTLY, he tells them that he really “feels better inside” – which make’s it all worth it.

In addition to the movement program, they also started him on a Wheat and Dairy free diet and began chiropractic treatment (which completely eliminated his bedwetting issues).
Here’s another short news segment that was featured relating to chiropractic: http://wbztv.com/video/?id=____@____.com

Lastly, here’s Sargent’s website and contact info. We feel hopeful for the first time in years and I am happy to pass the info along in case it can help anyone else.

I went to a LENS/ neurofeedback lecture and wanted to get more informed since my son was getting neurofeedback from Advanced Neurotherapy www.advancedneurotherapy.com in Wellsley. LENS is a bit different from typical neurofeedback, but you should check them both out before you decide because they are not the same thing. Sometimes a change in diet (gluten free casein free) has been known to help as well. Good luck.

Hi A. – I know of quite a few people who were looking for assistance with ADHD. Basically, what they have done is change their cleaning products from those with the phosphates, ammonia, bleach, formaldehyde derivatives, etc and replaced with non-toxic products. Also changing personal care products helped as well. Scientist and Doctors are now believing many products we use are causing many symptoms of illness. The addition of a great vitamin and mineral source also helped. I have the information on what THEY used, but the file is too large for the message board. Email me and I can definitely forward it on to you with not just the products, but their experiences and the literature behind WHY it works!”

I am the executive director / owner of Active Healing, Inc. I am happy to do free 1/2 hour screenings via Skype. This is a great way to get a lot of your long-standing questions answered and see if a program of neurological reorganization is right for your family and/or child.

I suggest seeing someone who specializes in homeopathic medicine rather than western medicine! Check out www.maxhealing.com

I myself as well as my young son have gone to see Dr. Mark Mincolla & his associate Jill LaForest at that office and they are wonderful. They are located in Cohasset, MA and the website will give you more info.
My niece who is older now went to him for several things and one was ADHD and guess what she is not on the medicine that the pyschatrists/western medicine docs give out these days but yet her ADHD is GONE!!!!! She is a wonderful child to be around now!! Good luck!
