Alternative Remedies/Medicine for Premenstrual Syndrome

Hi moms. This has been an issue for a few months. But I know I have bad PMS symptoms. Maybe not as bad as other women and that keeps me from functioning, but it will pop up at the most a week before I start my period and last either the first day or at a worst month through the end of my period. Most of the time I am happy, energetic and love life. However during that time I feel a little blue, a little irritated, I'm bloated, I feel crampy and tired. None of my symptoms are extreme, but I know I need to come to a solution. Most of the women in my family have the same issue. Bad hormones are just in the family. My sister went to her dr and her dr automatically wanted to put her on antidepressants. For me that is out of the question. I know there is a solution out there without having to pop a pill. I just need some guidance on any natural remedies and or medicine. I heard there are diet changes I may have to take. Any advice? I'm open to it. :)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well things are not 100% but then again what is? I am work in progress. I am continuously researching and educating myself on this topic. However, I am feeling better. I started myself on vitamin B and progesterone cream. I think I will try the herbal tea as well. Kicking caffeine out of my diet is a challenge but I am managing. I am only eating sugars and starchy foods once in a blue moon. I am just glad that I'm feeling better. Thanks so much!

Sprouts sells Hyland's PMS Tablets. I've tried it and it works great.

Oh anytime you're on your period or even if you were pregnant, suggestion is to eat Yogurt, 100% cranberry Juice (I like the CranRaspberry - Kirkland's or Old Orchard), lots of water, apple juice you can dilute 1/2 and 1/2 of juice and water, no ice, no sodas, not too much coffee, Drinking decaf teas (hot or cold), and just not so much cold drinks or foods will help as well and you will feel less bloated and crampy.

Hi M.,

I really recommend Dr. Jeri at Tatum Crossing Chiropractic (located at Tatum and Cave Creek). She has a lot of experience with this and does get results. The number there is ###-###-####.
Best of luck to you!

I have found that PMS tea by Traditional Medicinals is helpful for cramps and bloating. You cam find it at CVS, GNC or health food stores. Also an herb called Chasteberry OR Vitex. Take it for 30 days then you should begin to notice the symptoms lessen each month. Valerian by far was the most helpful for the pain, mood and bloating. I Usuall took 2 to 6 twice a day the first two days of my period and it worked wonders. You can also open the capsules and make a tea.

I also did extensive research on the web to find answers about my condition. Herb Quarterly magazine is informative on various health issues.

Remember that herbs take longer than medicines to do work. So be patient. Over the counter medicines and prescription drugs can make your flow heavier than normal.
You are doing the right thing by seeking a natural remedy. In the long run you will be glad that you held out for it.
Don't stop with my advice search for out more. Listen to your body. Ask yourself when holding medicine, if you need one or ... Our bodies know how to heal itself and if we learn to listen and stay in harmony with it we can be happier.

Do a search on the internet. I've been taking Vitamin B and that helps. They also have specific vitamins for premenstural symptoms. Good Luck, I know how hard this can be.
