Alternative Vaccination Schedule-Friendly Doctor

Hi There,

I am a chiro with specialty for pediatrics and pregnancy and see alot of new parents that give me feedback on local pediatricians. And this topic of delayed schedules has recently has so much media time that is is a more common request as of late. In Cary, I have heard of Susan Catchings, FNP with Schmidt and Catchings for entire family care. Definitely Dr. Ramsdell but as someone mentioned she is not taking new patients until Sept I believe, but worth checking out for the long run, she is out on her own in practice but is very thorough and takes a one on one approach. Also near Rex is a Dr. Wiles that has been mentioned to be caring and willing to work with families on a personalized approach to care, he is also in practice on his own.
You could always call the office and ask if they do any consultation type meetings for you to meet and get info from the doctor prior to bringing in your child. I know Ramsdell does this in a group fashion every couple of weeks or so.

I have heard Dr. Ramsdell is highly recommended, but not taking new patients, unfortunately.

One person has said ABC Pediatrics in Dunn is respectful of their decisions, but they may not be near you.

Another person recommended UNC Family and said they have many non-vaxers there even.

One other person mentioned Dr. Jefferies in North Raleigh as being OK.

I go to Dr Salter at Triangle Pediatrics in Cary. She was willing to work with us and I have been giving my son the alternate schedule with no problems.

GOOD FOR YOU!!! Even better for your kids. Sorry i can't help you out, i take my kids to a family doctor that has worked well w/ me and my kids ( ages 7,4,3) my oldest was vaccinated and now is autistic (we believe because of the vacines) and my other two have not been/nor will be vaccinated

A friend of mine just attended the open house at Capital Pediatrics (I am pretty sure that is there name) last night. They have 3 doctors at that office (I'm guessing on Capital). 2 other offices... one in Wakefield and one at Knightsdale. They said they would work with you on whatever you wanted, that it is your child and your choice in the end. They said it is there job to make sure you are educated about it all, which I'm sure you are, as I've read that book too. :)

I have been there before & had a disaster with a different pediatrician there - so if you go ONLY see him.

Whatever you decide to do. Do not use Jeffers Mann & Artman Pediatrics they are inflexible and even threatened to call social services. Because I objected to them giving my 3 1/2 week premature infant his at birth shots, only 14 days after birth, which included a HEPb shot known to have a the side effect of encephalitis (brain swelling). Which is known to potentially cause SIDS or failure to thrive and permanent brain damage. My son had all of these except SIDS. I trusted them way too much. They churn kids through their practice like a machine. When I expressed concerns about my son loosing his words and withdrawing to a blank emotional state they wrote it off as being nothing to worry about. My son was later correctly diagnosed by project enlightenment as autistic. The person that diagnosed my son wondered why it took me so long and why his pediatrician did not diagnosis him. Critical time was wasted in which my child could have been getting early intervention. It was later that I put the pieces together only to find out that a vaccine injury claim has to be made within 3 years and likely why I got the run around. So again in my opinion avoid Jeffers Mann & Artman Pediatrics like the plague. Currently, infants are no longer given the HEPb vaccine at birth. Most of the injured have no recourse whatsoever. Also, be aware NC is a Religious exemption only state.
