You should definitely go get a real test from the doc to rule out pregnancy, especially since you are on the pill. The pill could be causing the breast changes, it's possible.
This may sound like a silly questions since i've already had 2 kids, but...am i pregnant? i am not a well endowed female, so when my boobs get bigger, it's noticeable. i don't get sick when i'm pregnant so i can never tell by that. i took the test twice but i was on my period (it was 2 weeks early and i am ALWAY on time). so does the blood mask the pregnancy hormone so it would come up negative? should i try the test again now that my period is past? or should i go to my doctor and request a real test (pee in a cup) to know for sure. we are not trying to get pregnant so i am on the pill and i've heard that while taking the pill and being pregnant it can damage the fetus.
so my questions are... Am I pregnant with the symptoms of enlarged breasts (my nipples did itch a week before they grew-i don't know if that's significant). i would say they are a little sore, but not much. and well, i'd say that's the only sign. (any other reason why my boobs would grow, i'm not gaining weight (at least not as fast as they are growing). Also, should i go to my doctor and do the real test? Any advice would be wonderful! thank you
Thank you to everyone who gave me advice, it brought some light onto things i had not known about. i ended up calling my doctor and they had me take a blood test (i've been on the same PILL for 6 years, it shouldn't suddenly affect my breasts). The results came back negative, so now at least i have the peace of mind i've needed. i either may be blessed by the boob fairy! or it's something else, i'll look into it. Thank you all again!

If you don't plan to terminate a pregnancy, go ahead and wait awhile before going to the doctor. But I'd stop the pill and use condoms or something else for the time being, just to be on the safe side.
If your period was 2 weeks early when you took the test, you would not have really been far enough along to get an acurate test. It could be breakthrough bleeding, either from pregnancy or from the pill. When I started on a low-dosage pill I bled every two weeks for 7-10 days; it was light but irritating to be worrying about it half the month. My doctor switched me to a higher dosage and it went back to normal.
If you are really concerned, wait a couple more weeks (until your period is really due) and then test again - most tests are acurate after the first day of a missed period. And don't worry about buying an expensive test, the cheap ones work just as well. If it still comes up negative and you are concerned, or if you keep having periods every two weeks, call your doctor.
I guess I'm seconding what someone else said about implantation bleeding. How heavy was the period?
I just wanted to let you know that my sister has gotten pregnant 3 times on the pill (seriously!) and her kids are all fine. At least for her, taking the pill didn't harm the fetus. If you are worried, stop taking your pills until you know for sure.
hello I would just see your doc if the urine test at home came up neg then the pee test at the doc prob will too. I would go and get yr blood tested that is the only 100% way to know if there is Hcg in yr blood. Not just to check for hcg but maybe you have a hormone flux that is causeing breast issues sometimes the pill can do that plus you did get your period (if it was a normal heavy flow if it was just spotting that is a diff story I had implantation bleeding with my daughter) even though a normal looking period is is known to happen with a few and they are pregnant it is prob a sign that you are not.
I also bled and thought I was having my period, even though I was really pregnant.
Some women just don't respond to the pill very well as a method of birth control and get pregnant anyway.
Go to a women's clinic or your doctor's office and have them do a blood test. Those are more accurate than a urine test.
The pee in the cup test at the doctors is exactly the same as the test in the store, so save yourself an office visit co-pay and get a store test. A "real" test would be a blood test, so obviously you'd have to go to the doctor for that. I always say, "when it doubt take a test."
As far as the pill hurting the fetus, you should call your doctor and ask.

You never need to worry about asking a stupid question here. Here there is no such thing as a stupid question. reguarding your question. I feel if you are truly concerned it is always best to go see your doctor. Then all your answers will be answered and you won't have to worry .
Good Luck

well, I work at a womens clinic and we mainly do birth control, paps, etc. a few things could be going on. First, beng on apill will nto casue any damage to baby unless you stayed on it for a long period of time (like 6months) obviously stop four pill if you are pregnant, but I wouldnt worry too much right now. DEFINITLY dont stop your pill if you are sexually active, cuz if your not pregnsnt now and you stop your pill, you could end up preggo! about the breast tenderness and early period-did you miss a pill or take it outside of the normal time? You should be taking your pill arounf 3 hours of the same time evryday, if you missed a pill or took one very late it can cause you to have some irratic bleeding. Blood is probably not going to obscure your test result (but i don tknow for sure) cuz it is measuring the hormone in your system, not any type of blood or discharge. Let us know the result, good luck!
First off he pill can give you pregancy symptoms because it mimics hormones in your body when your pregnant. Second if you have any concern just call your OBGYN and speak to him directly. If he has any concerns he will have you come in. Third if you want to be certain just set up an oppointment with any doctor and they can run a few tests and if you are they will tell you to do XYZ if your not then they will tell you so and send you home with peace of mind. They might have you do a follow up if they are unsure. But Peace of Mind is a great feeling to have. Good Luck I think that everything wil be fine either way. Lots of people do get pregnant on the pill and have healthy babies.
Pregnancy can happen on the pill, it's not 100% effective. However, the chances of your being pregnant are slim if you've taken the home test twice. They are pretty effective if you do them correctly.
I would go to the doctor and get a blood test (the most effective and definative way) if you aren't sure and have missed a period. Though I'd be tempted to send the booby fairy a thank you note if mine got bigger suddenly without reason, it could also indicate there is something else happening with your hormones or metabolism (ie perhaps thyroid?) that MIGHT be worth looking into.
In my VERY humble opinion, it would be better not to put off the doctor since if you are NOT planning to have more kids you probably don't want to to quit taking the pill, and if you are pregnant, it would be better to know sooner so you can make informed choices.
Good luck with this mystery! If you've accidentally discovered a boob-growing technique that's not pregnancy - LET US KNOW!
:)

A doctor's test can give you an exact number of the HcG, but since home tests should come up positive if your numbers are 25 or higher (the same as a pee in the cup at the doctor's), you might just save the money and time and take a test when if you miss your period. Your doctor would probably recommend not taking the pill and doing something else until then, but it wouldn't hurt to call and ask. As far as the tests go, I never did have a positive urine test with my daughter, even though my numbers were over 12,000 by the time I had a blood test.
Hi!
I don't know how long you've been on the pill, but it can cause spotting and will enlarge your breasts somewhat. I'd call your OB/GYN and report your symptoms. Also, I don't know if you're aware of this, but many women get pregnant on the pill if they are also taking antibiotics. If you've been on antibiotics recently, you could be pregnant. In any case, get a "real" test so you don't worry.

I would say you probably are not pregnant. The "real" test is the same as the ones you buy at the store. If you are really wondering, get the blood test done. That will tell you for sure. As for your boobs growing, whenever I have a period, my nipples are sore, itchy and seem to grow. That may be what has happened. I don't think you are pregnant, but maybe....
Um... I'm pretty sure that if you had your period you are not pregnant. Sometimes my boobs get a little swollen and enlarged when I get my period. Does that ever happen to you? Also, I'm pretty sure that the pregnancy tests are very accurate. If there is HGC in your system, even if you are just a little bit pregnant, it will show up on your test as a positive for pregnancy. If it would make you feel better, go and take a test at the doctor, but I'm told that the pee in the cup test is exactly the same as a home pregnancy test, so I'm pretty sure you will get the same result. I hope this helps.
I just wanted to respond about home pregnancy tests and their accuracy. From what I have been told if one comes up positive, it is usually correct. However, home pregnancy tests have a fairly high rate of false-negatives. Four years ago I swore I was pregnant. I took 2 home tests two weeks apart; they were both negative. The following week I went to my doctor because I still had not had my period. Turns out I WAS pregnant - with TWINS! Bottom line, if you still feel something is not right, see your doctor.
It could be a side effect of the pill...have you changed types recently or anything? Try the test again and see what happens...and if you are still concerned you may want to at least call the nurse at your dr's office. Good luck!
Welcome to the wonderful world of hormones!! You so don't want to hear my story, but suffice it to say I recognize the symptoms. Pregnant or not they can totally change you figure. If you are sure that you aren't pregnant, but those kinds of changes are happening, I would see someone who specializes in hormone therapy and get your hormone levels, at the very least, checked. The key is to catch it early if it is wild hormones--otherwise it takes forever to undo the craziness they create--good luck!
If you were bleeding two weeks early, it could be implantation bleeding. If it is, you aren't far enough along to get a positive test.
With my second son, I had implantation bleeding. I waited until the day my period SHOULD have come (28 days after your real period) and it came up positive. But before that, it would have been too early.
So you may have to wait a little while to find out. Do doctor's blood tests detect it earlier? I don't know, but it seems rather expensive to me. I'd rather wait and pee on a another stick, even if I just about go nuts wondering in the meantime!
i wouldn't think so, but if you're worried, talk to your doctor
I just saw a video today about inflammmatory breast cancer. Some of the symproms include suddenly enlarged breasts and itchiness. Here's the link to video with the information:
http://komonews.s3.amazonaws.com/ibc/komo_ibc.wmv
I always spotted a little around the time that my babies implanted which would be about two weeks before my period was expected. But, I never had bleeding similar to a period. I would think that if you're on the Pill the timing of your period wouldn't vary though.
It's probably worth a call to your doctor, especially if you have symptoms that match the inflammatory breast cancer. It sounds like many women are diagnosed late because they recognize the symptoms as being potentially cancer.

I personally don't think you are pregnant. You may be having side effects from you birth control pills, that happened to me several times and I had to switch to a different brand of pill. That would also cause your boobs to grow and itch, just growing would make them itch but the increased hormones and your period at the same time would make sense as to why your boobs would hurt/itch... I would think that it has more to do with your pills than with being pregnant. The pee test at the doctor's office is the same as the ones you buy in the store.. if you still think you may be pregnant than I would get a blood test done, its the most accurate at an early stage of pregnancy. Also an appointment with the doc may be a good idea to discuss your pills and if you need a different brand/strength. Good luck!

GO TO THE DOCTOR. Your doctor will be able to tell you more on enlarging breast. Maybe your preg. Maybe not. Talk to your Doctor
You took the test while on your period? Usually your period there is a pretty good sign of not being pregnant. If you are concern use a different form of birth control. As far as your chest goes, sometimes the lucky women, just go through a stage of growth. I depends a lot on your age as well. I had friends that went off to college and came back double in size. Wait on the doctor for a couple of weeks.
