American Themed Bday Party

Hello Mamas, I am planning my son's bday and I'd like to celebrate his American heritage. A little background: he's half American by his father and half Italian by me - we (him and I) moved to Rome when he was 2, and he speaks prevalently Italian, although the American influence is very big in our family. He will be turning 6 and is not the only not-fully Italian child in his classroom, there's also a kid who's half Greek and another one who's half French, so I thought I would make it a special occasion to celebrate diversity. Since his father is also attending the party, I could ask him to buy something in the US that I would never find here and to bring it along, so we can decorate the yard and give that American theme everyone will certainly love. The yard has some plants and trees, some lampposts too. I'd appreciate ideas on: decorations, finger food and cakes (easy to make or something my ex can bring, like muffn mixes etc..), outdoor games and favors (I was thinking themed lollipops or marshmallows or similar?).
Any idea is very welcome! Thanks in advance Ladies :-)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

ADDED:Unfortunately tha yard in not MY yard, we live in a condo, so this is the "shared" yard, does it make sense? So I CAN'T do bbq or cooking on the lawn (although I wish I could!). I will have to prepare most of it at home and then bring it downstairs.

Buy some colored chocolate, and dip marshmallows (stick them with a toothpick) in red and blue, and draw stars and stuff on them with more melted chocolate or and edible pen. Look in every dollar store, dollar general, family dollar ect., these places are filled with cool cheap stuff. Good luck, have fun!

The most American thing there is - 4th of July picnic. Hotdogs, hamburgers, catchup, mustard, potato salad, baked beans, jello salad, lemonade, fireworks, everything red white and blue, stars and stripes.

or - you could do cowboy theme. That's also recognized worldwide. BBQ brisket, sweet Tea, potato salad, apple pie, everything cowboy themeed, lots of rope, boots, and hats.

Just use red/white/and blue colors.
Hot dogs
BBQ foods
Corn on the cob
Chicken nuggets
Hamburgers
Baseball things
Streamers and balloons
Treasure hunt games
Potato sack races

So is this in Italy or being held in the US?

Or if you want to bring more diversity to the party, then have Greek and French food too.
ie: stuffed grape leaves, couscous, Crepes etc.

ooh how fun!! I would totally play up the 4th of July theme using the Red, white and blue. They make yard pennants that you can hang from trees. Also go to Pinterest and look at all the red/white/blue treats. Hot dogs, lemonade, hamburgers, potato salad and barbq beans.
It could be fun to have his dad pick up a statue of liberty or some other little trinket or (if allowed) any way to order and have sparklers shipped??
You may have no problems coming by them in Rome, but would be a fun addition to the party. Also, do you sing happy birthday in English or Italian? If Italian, give all the guests English verstion to sing/follow along.
Games: three-legged race, pin the tail on the donkey, football throw (through a hoop), baseball.
Have fun!
