HELP!!

Our anniversary is Tuesday and after buying birthday gifts and Father's Day gifts for my husband in the past month, I'm short of ideas. I usually have things like this done in advance, but we've had a very busy couple of weeks and I'm behind on this one. I'm feeling the pressure...

What's the best gift anniversary gift you've given or received?

I'm open to any suggestions. Trying to stay away from something mundane, but my creative brain seems to be asleep today.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all your suggestions. Interestingly enough - seems many don't do gifts. We ended up taking the day off yesterday and hanging out together (both kids were gone for the day). It gave us a rare chance to catch up without interruption. Then we had a very nice dinner out...and have a trip planned (for just the 2 of us) for the future. :)

The best gift I ever gave my hubby was a propane smoker and a smoking cookbook (you know, for smoking meat). Ordered a Masterbuilt brand one off Amazon, it was a great price. My husband has had a great time this month learning how to use it and we have had some fabulous meals. You can cook meat, casseroles, breads, pizzas etc. in it.

We don't really do gifts. We have our family vacation at the same time as our anniversary, give or take a few days. Quite often we'll just buy ourselves something nice and special while we're there and jokingly tell each other what they bought us.
We haven't bothered trying to give each other a gift in forever. We are about to celebrate our 18 year wedding anniversary. It just doesn't seem as important to go out and buy some bobble to say we appreciate and love each other.

We celebrated 10 years so as a gift to each other we had a mozaic picture put together. The main picture was a nice current one of us a friend took and the pictures making it up was various pictures of us from the last 10 years. There's several sites online that offer different sizes; they print and mail it to you; they put it together and send you a file that you can print yourself.

A few anniversaries ago, and more than once I've written my husband a poem. I framed it and/or did something else a bit creative with it. I also am always sure to include little things such as a memory book reminiscent of our last year together. Some of the time these books include actual photographs and/or trinkets but most of the time they're something I do all on my own including drawings.

No matter the gift enjoy the day.

Last year we got each other an espresso machine to remind us of her honeymoon. This years gift was even better! We both forgot because of everything going on. Our gift to each other was to laugh about how perfect it was that we both did nothing. :)

Maybe I am strange but I think anniversaries are about each other so it would seem the perfect gift for you is the gift of giving you this year off for giving something to him.

Rather than gifts we usually do experiences: tickets to a concert, show or sporting event especially. Get a sitter and take him out to a cool new restaurant or to a bar to listen to music and play pool.
If you can afford it book an overnight trip somewhere relaxing and romantic.
A date night (or day) is NEVER a bad idea!

We haven't done gifts since getting completely out of debt, but some of the gifts for whatever occassion that my husband cherishes the most: get away to Laurel Highlands area (winery festival, tours of Frank Lloyed Wright homes, secluded b&b), fishing charter for him and 1 friend out on the D (Delaware), 3-in-1 coat that can change from rain coat to snow coat to fleece with lots of pockets. Good luck!

The best anniversary gifts we've given each other were gifts where we did
something. Some sort of activity.
-If you can't get away, how about getting a certificate for his hobby that you could both do together like golfing etc.?
-Wine tasting at a nearby local winery?
-Cook him his favorite dinner for both of you to enjoy w/your favorite
beverage.
-Get your favorite beers or wines & do a mini beer/wine tasting at home
w/some appetizers.
-Does he need a nice watch or sport watch you could pick up at your
nearest department store?
-Go through your wedding photos, pull out a few & put them in a mini photo album (they have those small ones for a couple of dollars) so you can look through them & reminisce.
-Which anniversary is it? Then I could figure out a "tailor made" gift.
-Write "your story" (how you met, first date etc) in a blank journal, add the reasons you love him & you're glad he's your husband then give it to him to read that night. Read it with him.

We don't do gifts for anniversaries, we do dates. Can you get a babysitter and go out to a nice meal, just the two of you? Or a play, or something you don't usually do?

I agree with the date ideas. We don't really do material gifts for our anniversary, but instead leave the kiddo with grandma and head out for an evening alone (we've stayed at a hotel the last couple of years, just to really get some alone time). Last year it was Cirque du Soleil, the year before that a concert. We would just rather spend the money on doing something together than deal with the stress of trying to find that perfect gift. Our anniversary, Christmas, and hubby's b-day are all within a couple weeks, so continually trying to find enough things he would like was a real challenge. Happy anniversary!

My husband and I like to do something together. My favorite is when we go to NYC, see a broadway show and have lunch and dinner. My husband is impossible to buy for and if I want something I typically just buy it myself.

Give him...YOU!...With a bow and some super sexy lingerie!...light those candles, run the bath water with bubbles galore...give ALL the attention that he normally DOESN'T get!!! Don't know your, 'preferences' but a toy & some lotion are good additions to a fun BD night!

An anniversary gift should be something you both enjoy. We often do an overnight at a hotel at the beach with dinner and breakfast, or a couples massage and day at the spa.

We try to head the beach for a brief anniversary family vacation. Treat ourselves and the kids to a fun long weekend, with fun and good food. That's our gift to each other. Going on 18 years as well. Enjoy your day! :)
