I had my almost 3 year old tell everyone that his little sister (13 months old) was going to be a big sister. Everyone talks about it to this day!
I just found out I am pregnant with my 2nd. My parents are coming out in a couple weeks and I'd like to tell them in a fun/funny way. Any ideas?
Thanks for your input!
I had my almost 3 year old tell everyone that his little sister (13 months old) was going to be a big sister. Everyone talks about it to this day!
The cutest response I think I ever had read was a Mom pulling into the "Expectant Mom" parking spots at the mall or the store to announce to her husband. I just thought it was the cutest idea.
Congratulations and Good luck!
WIth my second pregnancy I got a onesie for my oldest to wear and I wrote on it "Big Sister May 2006" in bright colors and neat handwrting, and put it on her. That's how I announced the pregnancy to my husband. Then when my in-laws came to town to visit, I just handed her to them (she was 6 months old), and waited for them to read what her shirt said.
With my first one, I bought hallmark cards with a baby face on the front, inside I taped a picture of the first ultrasound which was done at my first visit and wrote "hello grandma, grandpa - I don't have any arms or feet or toes yet, but I already have my first picture. I will see you in 8 months"
something like that, can't remember exactly.
I sent or gave the card to the future grandparents and they loved it...
I can see everyone beat me to the t-shirt idea! I still love it though! The bibs in a gift bag was pretty cute too! When I was preg w/my 2nd, I let my 1st, who was 2 at the time, tell everyone..."I'm going to be a big sister!" It was esp. cute because she was so excited! However you do it, they will love it! Congrats!
I gave each grandparent a photo holder that said 'My Grandkids', a photo of my son wearing a shirt that I painted that said 'Big Brother' on it & a card. Another time I put star mints in a small bottle, put the bottle in a diaper wipe box & wrapped it & gave them a card.
Congratulations!
God bless!
With my 2nd announcement I went out and bought "I'm the Big Brother T-shirt" and waited to see how long it would take for them to notice it.
I like Mommy X3's answer - that is really cute.
Another idea would be to have your 1st child wear a t-shirt when your parents come over that says "Big Brother/Sister" and not say anything until they notice the shirt.
Congrats!!
When i was pregnant with my second I wrote "I'm gonna be a big sister" on my 18 month old's diaper and went to my in-laws. I handed my daughter to them and asked my MIL to change her diaper please. When she saw what was written on the diaper she loved it!
Sorry if I repeat don't have time to read all the respones. My friend just announced she was having a baby by having her son wear a t-shirt that said I am the big brother. She invited her parents and in-laws over for dinner. Everyone was there a little while before her mom read her son's shirt then everyone went crazy. She said it was so much fun. Then she took a pic of her son and posted it on FB so all her friends could find out.
Congrats!
We told our parents by making a shirt for our daughter to wear that said "I'm going to be a big sister!" It was really cute. I just bought a plain T-shirt and wrote on it with fabric paints. Congrats!
what i did was buy a balloon that said congrats and put my pregnancy test in a hot dog bun and put it all in the oven and when my husband got home, i told him i smelled gas and wanted him to take a look....and then he opened the oven and said what's this...oh my godddddd!! it was so great!
When I was pregnant w/ my second child we bought "I love Grandma" & "I love Grandpa" bibs and put in a gift bag. When the grandparents got here (we waited until they were all here) and handed them the bags. The look on their faces when the "got it" was priceless!
I remember a line from a movie with Molly Ringwold. She was having dinner with her parents and said "I'm pregnant. Pass the potatoes.". I still think it's funny.
