I have an 8 month old who we've been trying to get to sleep in her crib. It is going well except from 3 am on. She wakes up and does not settle down and go back to sleep in her crib. She'll fuss and cry when we pick her up she'll settle after a while and fall asleep as soon as we get near the crib to lay her down she wakes up arches her back and wails! Cry it out is not an option she shares a room with her older sister. If she wakes earlier in the night she'll go back to sleep with a pat on the back and sh-sh. She naps well most days and goes to bed about 7:30. Thanks mommas!

My 5 month old daughter will often slightly wake and fuss in the middle of the night as well, I used to bring her into our bed but she weaned herself about a month or so ago so now I give her a bottle right where she's laying in her crib and within a minute or two she goes right back to sleep. It seems she is just a little hungry/thirsty. Good luck, I hope that helps!

It sounds like she could be hungry. Maybe try some formula or bm in a sippy cup or bottle and see if that helps. I am still feeding my 1yr old once a night because she is small for her age and Dr says night calories are the best. I also started sitting on the floor next to my daughters crib and pat her back with my arm through the crib slats. I pat her back until she falls asleep. This is the best way I've found to quietly get her to sleep.

Are you open to the idea of bringing her into your bed? We had this same problem with our son, so we just brought him into our bed. We got so much more sleep that way! I think he just really liked the safety of being with us and not alone. He's 4 1/2 now and is a great sleeper. He (and his little brother) always start the night in their own bed. One day he just decided that he was too big to sleep in our bed, so even if he wakes up in the middle of the night, he always goes back to sleep on his own in his big boy bed.

Perhaps she is hungry. Maybe try feeding her a little bit of cereal (baby kind of course) shortly before bed and see if that helps.
