Another Double Stroller Question

I'm pregnant with my second child, and when he/she is born, DD will be just over two years old and still very much needing a stroller. So on the hunt I go!

I've narrowed it down to three options:

Kolcraft contours options tandem stroller

Phil & Ted's Inline Buggy

Joovy Ultralight Caboose

Anyone have any experience with these strollers that can give me a review? I love the compactness of the Phil & Ted's, the versatility of the Kolcraft, and the sit or stand toddler option with the Joovy. My concerns are how the Phil & Ted's will function with a carseat AND a toddler (will my toddler be able to see anything or like sitting in the back?), the bulkiness and heaviness of the Kolcraft (the thing maneuvers well, but it is huge!), and with the Joovy I'm worried that my daughter (who currently only weights 19 lbs) isn't big enough for a sit-n-stand.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance for any input.

Hi! I have the Phil and Ted's sport stroller and I love it. I am now pregnant with my second child and went on a search for other double strollers because I couldn't decide if the Phil and Ted's would work for us. (My son with be almost 3.5 years old when I have the second baby.) I decided to keep the Phil and Ted's because I would be able to use it with later children if I wanted to, but also because I just love the size of it. I do like all the extras that other doubles have, but I don't think you can beat the size and maneuverability with the Phil and Ted.

To answer your question about how to fit a toddler and a newborn, the stroller wasn't intended to fit an infant car seat and a toddler. You would have to attach the doubles seat above the regular seat and recline the regular seat to lay the newborn down in. They also sell carry cots that would help you transport your baby to and from the stroller and also to keep your baby warm. I know that isn't really what you were expecting, because that's why I thought I wanted to get another stroller too since not having to move the baby from stroller to car seat is so much easier... Anyway, I have read that some parents have put the doubles seat on the back of the stroller and didn't fully recline the regular seat to fit the infant car seat, but be warned that isn't what the stroller was intended to do. It would be a bit dangerous if you accidentally took too much weight off of the regular seat and the stroller tipped with your older child in it.

There may be another option for you since your children will be closer in age. Here's the link: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3012699
I personally don't have any experience with this particular stroller but I came across it when I researched. The stroller is a double seat, but converts to a sit and stand for when your children get older. You may want to check this out to see what you think about it. It appealed to be because I didn't want a sit and stand for when I have more children, because then I couldn't really use it if my children were closer in age.

Anyway, sorry for the long response, but I hope this helps and just let me know if you have any more questions. Let us know what you decide on! Thanks!

Hi M.,

I have the Joovy caboose and wouldn't trade it for anything. I LOVE the size compared to other doubles and it works well for my older daughter to be able to get on and off easily (she likes to walk sometimes and ride sometimes). My daughter was almost 3 when the baby was born... a little different than your situation, but I hope this helps. Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions about the Joovy. ###-###-####.

I LOVE my Phil and Ted inline double!! It was the only thing we bought with the addition of your youngest.
I have a 4 year old, and two little girls that are 15 months apart. My 4 year old is only 38 lbs so he can still go into the stroller if need be- it only takes a second to change the set up to accommodate a different set of kids.
I did not use the infant seat in the stroller I just layed her down flat, and had my older DD in the doubler seat above her. My understanding is you can buy a support bar for the infant seat or put the infant seafront and I always had both DD with me.
The bottom seat has a great view left and right, DD has never been bothered that she can not see straight in front of her.
Only negative thing I can say is the stroller will tip when a 4 year old tries to push it up onto a curb and only 2 tires are on the flat ramp surface- This can be avoided.

I have twins who are 6 months and we have the Graco Duo glider and I like that a lot. It has the 5 point harness and with my kids only being 6 months old they are now able to sit up in it without their carseats attached and love looking around! And I feel safe with them sitting up with that extra seat belt protection.

We had the double long Graco that you can put the infant car seat in. Mine were 15 months apart so I needed that. But by the time the baby was 9 months and my daughter two, we used the Kolcraft side by side except for long trips like to the zoo.

I actually went with the baby trend sit-n-stand stroller. I have a very active little girl and she really likes the fact that she can get in and out herself and she isn't strapped into a stroller ( she never really liked being in a stroller after she started walking and running). I went to babies-r-us and had my dd sit in both the Joovy and the baby trend. With the car seat in the Joovy my dd had to sit leaning forward, because the front seat has to be inclined to put a car seat in. In the baby trend my dd had more room to sit and didn't have to lean forward. I love my baby trend sit-n-stand, and would not trade it for anything. Hope this helps!
