Another Lice Question... Fairy Tales Hair Care Products

I think we have officially gotten rid of this bout of lice and I never want it to return again!!! Does anyone use Fairy Tales Hair Care Products? If so, do you feel they actually repel lice? Have you had a problem since using the products? Which products do you use? Does the hair look pretty and shiny? Do the products smell good? Also, how often do you wash your child's hair. I usually wash my daughter's hair every other day, but I am now considering doing it twice a week? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Also, this may sound silly, but I don't know which product to use or how to apply it. My daughter has thick, wavy hair down to her waist. I wouldn't think you would use hairspray on that type of hair and I'm afraid to use mousse becuase I would think that would make her hair look crunchy. That's why I am leaning towards using a leave in conditioner.

What can I do next?

Good ol' gel and hair spray will keep lice away. Lice only likes "clean hair" because it can't lay eggs on hair that has product on it. It doesn't matter how often you wash the hair if you put the product on it. Years ago when my kids were young we had to go through lice when a neice brought it back from a camp. I really learned a lot going through that and working at day care and going through the program on them.

We have used it, not faithfully but my daughter did get lice while using the product, however, it wasn't as bad as it had been the first time we found it so that was a huge plus. I really just think some kids are more susceptible to it than others. I don't think it smells terrible, but it doesn't smell great and the spray in stuff did make my daughters hair look a tad bit oily. Hope this helps.

After 2 terrible bouts of lice we use Fairy Tales daily. We wash the hair with the Rosemary Repel shampoo every other day and spray the kids with the leave in conditioning spray in the morning before I brush out their hair. This product feels very light, exactly like a detangling spray. I also use a couple of spritzes of the Rosemary Repel Spray and Shield when I am done combing the hair. The Repel feels very sticky like a strong hold hairspray so I only use a couple of sprays. I do use more of it when going to a playground or other place that I feel the hair could be touching places that other kid's hair has been. I also spray the kids jackets and back packs with the Repel product before they leave for school. The smell of the products was not great at first but I am used to it now and don't even notice it. I don't think the hair looks any different with Fairy Tales products other than the Repel- like I said it can make the hair look stiff like hairspray.

I find that drugstore.com has the Fairy Tales products cheaper than the Fairy Tales website and much better than at some of the hair salons I have seen them at.

Good Luck!! I understand how awful lice is. I am still traumatized over a year later and use Fairy Tales hoping that it is giving us some sort of protection.

No issues with LICE (KNOCK on WOOD) but do have experience with Fairy Tales. My daughter has very curly hair and I LOVE the fairy tales leave in conditioner-its a spray. I actually use it even on non bath days to smooth out the frizzies. I love the way it smells to.. Highly recommended

I've just recently started using the fairy tales hair products. I purchased the starter kit which has the shampoo, conditioner, gel, spray leave in conditioner , hairspray & then the product to remove lice. My children both have curly hair. The products do have an eucaluptus type scent, but it's not strong once it's on the hair. I also only wash my kids hair twice a week and I've always used curling cream or gel with them. I use the leave in conditioner daily when I wet their hair and the gel only after I wash it. I put the gel on wet hair & then brush it through. I've never had a problem with the hair being too stiff or crunchy. The product itself works as well with the hair as the shampoo/ect. that I was using before. The hairspray I only use if they are going somewhere with lots of kids like a birthday party. I do use it to spray any hats they may wear especially since kids like to share those types of things. I can't say whether or not it works, but I do know the reviews on it where very good & it's also supposed to repel mosquitoes & such. I won't know that till the warmer weather :)

I bought just the leave-in conditioner, the big bottle... transferred it to a spray bottle that I had... and I use it like a detangler. I kinda like the smell, but I'm not sure my kids do! It has rosemary, tea tree... definitely a "pungent" scent. I bought it with the intention of using it daily, but honestly I don't anymore. And it's hard to know for sure if it really works, unless you know for sure that there are other kids in the class with lice and that your daughter hasn't caught it again. I don't regret buying it though... when you're trying SO HARD to get rid of lice, it's nice to have SOMETHING that helps you feel like you're keeping it away.... and I definitely would start using it again, immediately & daily, if I heard someone that they knew had lice!!
