Another Question for Those with Iud's

I know the IUD thing comes up often, and I have another question. I've had mine for a year and 2 months now. After the 6 month adjustment period, I went on to have very light periods. I would spot on day one, and have some light bleeding on day 3, and then nothing else. Well, I should have started 2 days ago, pregnancy tests say negative (thank God!!!). So, I'm wondering if anyone has experienced dropping their period all together, skipping periods, late periods.... I do feel bloated today, but no sign of spotting or bleeding. Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you for your responses. It really eases my mind that the majority think this is very normal. I will try to only worry if I develop other pregnancy symptoms. Other than that, I'll try to just put it out of my head - now, and in the future - and try to enjoy it. :)

*****UPDATED AGAIN***** AF finally arrived. :)

Me too...no period! Wahoo! But, my husband doesn't trust it yet due to the fact that we got pregnant on birth control!

I have the EXACT same issue, or blessing I like to call it. After a trip to the GYN, I found this was normal. ;-)

I think not having a period is very normal with an IUD - I never know if / when I'm going to have one. The doctor told me that's because the "lining" takes longer to build up so only "sheds" (bleeds) when it gets thick enough to do so. I would have all the symptons associated with a period (including acne!) but no period. I guess I can put up with the acne for that!

if you have a mirena it is completely normal to not have a period. the hormone in the IUD prevents your uterus from creating the lining, which is what you lose when you have a period. about 30% of women with a mirena have no menstrual at all, while the remainder have very light periods.
i have a mirena and have not had a period in THREE YEARS and it is WONDERFUL!!!
(the copper IUD, the paragard, has no hormones so women with a paragard will continue to have normal periods as before)

I had the same thing happen to me only about 2 1/2 years into an IUD. Turned out I was pregnant, but the fetus was stuck in the felopian tube because of the IUD, and so did not show up on the at home test. Luckely I miscarried on my own and did not need to have the fetus removed. You may want to go get checked by the doctor, more than just a preg test but a pelvic exam.
Best of Luck
