Hi Ladies -
I feel that I've finally gotten to the age where I need to take better care of my skin, specifically my face. I would like to begin to use an anti-wrinkle or anti-aging moisturizer but there are so many out there that I can't decide on what to buy. I would really appreciate a good recommendation for one that has delivered visible results. I have medium-colored skin that is sensitive and somewhat acne-prone. Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

Here's a couple of websites for you (and others). The list of products is daunting, I agree, but these sites are helpful sorting through what's available out there; with reviews, cost and safety, etc.

I still haven't found the magic product for me but I like the Jason and DermaE lines, NutriBiotic Super Skin Serum and Alpha Hydrox lotion (10% or 12% AHA - great for acne prone skin) Also, for other reasonably priced products, L'Oreal seems to be well reviewed, but I haven't tried it.

I am at that same point with my skin. I was using Neutrogena Anti-Wrinkle, Anti-Blemish Cream and I was happy with it. Then I went to the Dermatologist for another reason but I asked him if he could perscribe something stronger for me to try. He gave me Tretinoin Cream, which is normally perscribed as an acne treatment but it also treats lines and discoloration. This stuff is no joke, it is a strong cream. I have been using it for about 3 months and my skin looks improved (I had some freckles and discoloration from the sun) and if I get a pimple, it is small and goes away in a day. There are some drawbacks, it takes a couple weeks for your skin to adjust and I had alot of flakiness and sensitive areas for awhile. And your skin becomes very sensitive to the sun and any kind of rubbing. If you want to start with something gentler but effective, I'd definitely recommend the Neutrogena, especially since you said you have acne-prone skin. That cream treats both. I would also definitely use a sunscreen daily on your face. For this I use Neutrogena Visibly Even daily SPF 15 moisturizer and if I know I will be in direct sun, I use a stronger SPF. I tend to stick with Neutrogena since I find it does not make me break out or irritate my skin. Hope this helps!

Hello E., that's wonderful that you are taking a step to protect your skin. My recommendation would be Shiseido at International Plaza. Please see Marlin at the Shiseido counter, she will evaluate your skin by the magnifing computer and will determine what kind of products your skin needs. Don't forget to ask for samples and try them first, you will love these products. Drinking lots of water, exercising and eating healthy will improve your skin.

I sell and use AVON products. There are several different product lines for various skin types and ages, and they are consitently well rated in the consumer magazines and by product testers who give advice on shows like TODAY and The VIEW etc.

I am 44 - and when I married my husband almost 6 years ago, I will still getting carded! People always say that they can't believe that I'm over 40. Also, .....despite that fact that I lived in a beach community for 35+ years, and was an avid beach goer ..I always always always use SUNBLOCK! I battle brown spots on my face that are driven by hormones - the same kind that some women get when they are pregnant. 5 minutes in the sun makes those spots crazy dark. To manage them, I always have a foundation with SPF in it for day to day, and I use OCEAN POTION FACE SPF 45 when I'm going to the beach, boat, amusement park or to work in the yard. Ocean Potion Face has clear Zinc in it, and it is the ONLY product that I have found to keep those spots from coming up when I'm going to be out all day - that AND a good wide hat. The AVON Anew Photoradiance does a great job of getting rid of the brown spots if I slip up and am lazy about the sunblock or have unexpected sun exposure.

I'll be setting it up so that I'll have online ordering with AVON if you aren't in my area,(I'm in Winter Haven) or don't know anyone who sells AVON. Let me know if you would like that information. AVON has 100% money back guarrantee if you're not happy with the products, but I think you would really love them, all of my customers do. I can also send you samples to try. Good luck! It's never too early to start protecting and taking good care of your skin!

I'm 40 and I look really young. So does my mom. If I go out with my son who's 21, it looks like we could be a couple. Anyway, my mother always taught me to use Noxema to wash the face and to always moisturize with Oil of Olay. I put Oil of Olay on every day, every time I shower or wash my face. Also, don't neglect the neck because that's one area that shows your age pretty fast. Put moisturizer on there as well. Also, two other really good tips are to always wear sunglasses when you're out in the sun because they help you not squint as much which causes crows feet/wrinkles and try not to be out in the sun too much in general. The sun is bad for your skin. If you are, wear moisturizer with sunscreen in it. My mom taught me this and I taught my daughter the same thing. She's 20 and has been practicing this for a while. Oh.. almost forgot. Few other factors too that could harm your skin are of course, smoking and drinking. These two are really bad for your skin.

So, most of what happens to your skin is either genetics (I'm a fair blonde and will wrinkle more than someone with olive or black skin) Also, past sun damage and smoking can really destroy your skin. Use sunscreen and don't smoke. Beyond that, I have used a 15% glycolic acid from the dermatologist. LOVED IT!! My friends used to come over and get it from me too. It's strong enough to remove brown spots, fine lines, etc. But, it won't eat off your face like some of the ones I see on those TLC programs. I used Dr. Trunell in Tampa, even though my insurance isn't accepted there, since he would write the script for me. Then, I switch all the time with my moisturizers. I've used Clinique, Arbonne, even the Boots line from Target. After a while, I felt my skin wouldn't respond as well to the products and when I switched, I would get better results. So, I guess my favorite was the Arbonne line (you can get it online or I can give you my rep's number.) It's just that it was a bit pricey for me (you can look at prices online.) Good luck, and always remember your sunscreen.....and re-apply halfway through the day!!

My Grandmother looked like she was sixty at seventy six years of age. My mother never looked old until in her seventies. Neither of them used any special formulas on their skin. Just plain soap and water. But I remember my Grandmother allowing steam while cooking to go upon her face. She said it keeps you young. Maybe that is why my Mom has always looked younger then she is from all the canning and cooking over the years. Exercise is the best thing you can do for your skin. Every decent doctor will tell you that. I really have no advice on creams at all because like my Mother and Grandmother I do not use anything and everyone thinks I am ten to fiftenn years younger than I am. So if you don't need them don't use them. Just keep your face clean and exercise.

The Olay Regenerist products are the best, they have really made a difference in my skin. I tried the generic versions of them one time to save money; they did not compare! Go with the real stuff, there are coupons every month in Sunday's paper. The Regenerist serum and uv lotion are my faves.
