I took Buspar throughout my pregnancy and it was fine. Check with your doc--there are probably even more options now. Also make sure to see if you can speak with a therapist. Therapy and meds really helped me and I haven't had to take any meds in almost 4 years =) The Buspar was very mild, I had no side effects, and it was easy to wean off when I was ready. I was not able to breastfeed while taking the medicine, but I was fine with that. I had planned to formula feed anyway. Anxiety can be very serious and sometimes you do need the meds--it is safer for mom and baby to get some help and you to be sane and happy =) Best of luck and feel free to private message me if you have any other questions.

Talk to a psychiatrist, not general practitioner or OB-GYN regarding this issue. Better yet, talk to them all. This, as I'm sure you know, is highly controversial, but in the end, you must do what is best for you and your baby. That may or may not mean with meds. I had to take a class C med while pregnant and breast feeding with an old (few trials) med. I have the name of an excellent psychiatrist (and as a therapist, that really saying something given our ideological differences) if you'd like his name and number.

Also, you can try acupuncture if you are struggling now. Have the name for a good acupuncturist as well. This is such a tough decision and I'd be happy to relay any information I have.

Best to you!
Jen

YES. Magnesium.

Magnesium malate would be the form I would try, as it is recognized by the body as food.

Magnesium plays a role in serotonin, a modulator in mood and anxiety.
It also plays a role in nitric oxide synthesis. Magnesium deficiency is the most common mineral deficiency, and even more prevalent in pregnant people. The deficiency increases adrenaline, which irritates the central nervous system. Making it hard to relax. Other symptoms can include depression, apathy, compulsion, irritability, confusion, innatention, anxiety, hard to concentrate, hard to remember things, bipolar, schitzophrenia, ADHD, insomina, PMS, chronic fatigue, headaches and much more.

To increase serotonin, take vitamin B 6 (use pyridoxal 5 phosphate ), plus vitamin b complex liquid drops under the tounge daily. Increase protien for magnesium uptake.

T.,

Talk with your doc. You could try some green tea or other herbal teas, warm milk with a little vanilla..but best to let you doc know if something is going on.

Blessings....

Talk to several different doctors that you trust and get all of their opinions. This is obviously an important decision that will affect (hopefully not affect!) your baby so you have to do all the legwork possible and go over the pros and cons of each med. Good luck,
