Hi!

I have dealt w anxiety and panic attacks for as long as I can remember. Ever few years i actually get panic attacks and have been on and off zoloft. They seem to take different physical forms w each set. It seems I can pick up on any physical symptom i may have and obsess over it. I am in constant fear I have MS. I had an MRI a year and half ago.

My question is that has anyone experienced very shaky legs w anxiety and then they feel sore and stiff from this? I have been home all weekend and its almost like I fear leaving for work on Monday and I was fine, but building up towards this anxiety last week.

I have worked myself up and each day seem to make this worse and i am on the internet constantly googling. I did go to the Dr on Friday.

Thank you

What can I do next?

I do not have anxiety as a disorder, but whenever I have to speak to a group my body flips out on me, including insane leg shaking that leaves my muscles sore. Sometimes I grab my legs just to reduce their movement.

So the legs, I would say is normal for anxiety. I also know from friends with hypochondria and OCD that you should stay off the Google because you're making your anxiety worse.

Anxiety can bring so many symptoms. I also have ocd anxiety where I will obsess about health issues and truelly make myself believe and feel all the symptoms. I too went through a period I was convinced I had ms. My left wrist would feel like it was numb or I had to crack it. I would obsess so much my whole arm would feel numb. Went to the dr multiple times. Then my worst was when I convinced myself I had a heart condition. This was my bottom. I went to the dr then the er twice. Had every test done ekg echo ultrasound. Finally I went on paxil. It changed everything for me. I still have anxiety and still fear everything but not to the extreme of being irrational. True anxiety disorder is an awfull feeling. I hear ppl say all the time to not take meds to do therapy and excersise. I have an imbalance and it took years of suffering going to the er for every single pain or tingle for me to accept my doctors rec of going on meds. Stay off of google its the worst. I get anxious just thinking of googling a cough. The worst possible thing always pops up. See if when you go to work and are occupied if your symptoms are still there. Also talk about medication for anxiety with your dr and see if it is a good fit for you. Good luck I have been there.

Restless leg syndrome? My hubby and his sis both suffer with anxiety which has led to restless leg. There is medication out there for it. You aren't alone:)

I have anxiety. Try a five mile run. Do it three days in a row. You will feel much better.

Anxiety can manifest physically, especially during anxiety attacks. What you need to do is try to ease the anxiety, not make it worse and Googling the physical symptoms you're experiencing makes the anxiety worse.

If you're fearing leaving the house, it sounds like the anxiety is inducing agoraphobia. During the worst of my anxiety and depression, I have mild-to-moderate agoraphobia. I just feel safer being at home for many reasons.

Have you sought out therapy? I can't praise enough talk therapy coupled with depression and anxiety medication.

Doing deep breathing really helps me and also progressive muscle relaxation. I try to do the recorded version I have at least once a dAy or more if I have time.
By practicing it, you learn how to get you're body back to a more relaxed state.

Also the thoughts you have are anticipatory anxiety. If possible, come up with a counter thought, a positive thought against the negative thought.

Example 'oh no, this pain in my body must be because I have MS'. Start deep breathing .....breathe in 2 counts and breathe out slowly for 4 counts and then change your thought to 'okay I am having anxiety. I am okay. I know I am healthy and I don't have MS. It's just the anxiety talking. I can breathe through this and I will eventually feel better.'
