My husband and I are trying to have our second child. I had a miscarriage at 9weeks a few months ago. This is the firt time we are trying since. I took an ovuation test sunday which was positive and now for the past 3 days I am noticing some blood when I wipe after I urinate. Is this normal? Is this some indication that we didnt concieve? I have never noticed this "breakthru" bleeding around ovulation before other than last month this also happened.

While I'm sure there could be several causes, some women have light spotting during implantation of the embryo. Hopefully this is the case with you! Best of luck to you with baby #2!
Sounds like a very normal phenomenon that occurs during ovulation. Sometimes it can be accompanied by pain or cramping called "mittelschmerz", a German word meaning "middle pain." This spotting during ovulation can occur before, during, or after ovulation and may not happen every month. I have this every few months or so, but not every month. This should not hinder for chance of getting pregnant.

Hi, C., the spotting at that time typically means that the progesterone is too low. Possibly your body is trying to even out after the pregnancy. If it happens again next month, it may be worth a visit to the gyno for a hormone check. They'll take blood to see the progesterone levels. (Taking a small amt of uterine tissue to test the level is the most accurate, but I don't think anyone really looks forward to that if a blood test is "good enough.")
I was prescribed Provera for this very issue. Turns out that I had a different health concern, but I sure learned a lot about it.
I don't know how early implantation bleeding occurs, especially if your hormones are mixed up now, but I'm sure you'll know if this is the case sooner or later ;)
I doubt it would be implantation bleeding this early - usually it takes about six days for the fertilized egg to make the correct number of cellular divisions while tumbling down the fallopian tube before the blastocyst (fertilized egg) breaks out of the zonae (protective shell) and is accepted by the uterus. If you know you definitely ovulated on Sunday, that's only 4 days. But who knows - stranger things have happened, so test in about 14 days if you wish.
It is likely that you are experiencing this bleeding because, just right before ovulation the levels of estrogen in your blood drop dramatically and progesterone gets ready to take over. If you have good reproductive health then this could be a REALLY GOOD sign that you've ovulation - I hope you and your husband had lots and lots of sex despite the bleeding! This pre-ovulatory bleeding isn't terribly common but it does happen in some women. Of course you may want to discuss this with your ob/gyn to make sure there aren't any other issues (polyps, fibroids, hormonal imbalance, etc.)
If conception didn't happen this month, well certainly next month if you experience this bleeding again, by all means hop into bed (or the backseat or wherever!) and get busy!
You may also wish to investigate the possibility of charting your basal body temperature. You can go to www.fertilityfriend.com or buy the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. The website is free and the book is about $25 dollars. You'll also need a BBT thermometer which will run you about $10; all cheaper than ovulation tests (but definitely still okay to use them too as it is just another method to help discover when it is 'go time').
I highly recommend charting. It's super simple and you learn so much about your cycle. With charting/temping, you'll be able to see a temperature shift, indicating that you've ovulated AND if you get 18 days of raised temperatures you most likely are pregnant. Why am I a big believer? I was on a 59 day cycle, ovulated on day 41 and got pregnant without any assistance whatsoever! It really does work.

I just went through this the last couple of months. I have always been a 28 day cycle and have experienced "middle smertz" when I'm ovulating always just some mild pain in my side. However 2 months ago I had what you descibed, light blood when I wiped. I went to see my Dr., he did an ultrasound and a Paps (I was due for that) everything came back completely normal. Since he ruled out everything else, he said some people will have bleeding when they ovulate. This happened again the next month and not since. You might want to just check with your Dr. to be sure. good luck!
