Any Favorites to Suggest for Gift Ideas

I second the leapsters. My kids got their Leapsters last year when they were 2 and 4yrs, and they are still playing with them. I love it because they are educational games! On our Christmas lists this year, we are getting them more games and cases to keep their Leapster/games in. (Great for car rides too!)

As far as music goes, I would buy CDs that have children's christian favorites on them.(IMO) This way when they begin to learn the songs and sing along, they are also learning good life messages.

My son is almost 5 and he loves his Leapster! He got it for Christmas about a month after he turned 3 and started with 2 games. We just add a new game for his birthday and Christmas. They have games based on the grade they are in for school starting with PK. They are teaching games but are based on characters in most cases like Thomas the Train, Cars, Dora, or Disney princesses. It has been one of our favorite buys over the past 5 years! I can't wait to see what others post here!

Why don't you do several different theme boxes? One could be a kitchen them with pots, pans, food, and then target sells a table top kitchen for about 20$ or you could get them a used kitchen off of craigslist. Another box could have musical instruments and maybe one of those tape recorders with a microphone. One box could be a vet box with stuffed animals, a vet kit, and maybe some child sized scrubs. Another box could be an artist box with art supplies, smocks, and maybe a kids' picture book of artists. That way you could make them little learning centers at home.

My girls are almost two and almost three. I know that we are getting them a little kitchen set with food and a decorative box full of dress up items for sure. We haven't decided what else yet. I'm also making them each their own special blanket with applique's that fit their own special likes.

My one and only child (daughter) is 12. When she was about 4, we bought a large but portable Casio type keyboard. It had all kinds of buttons and whistles to make sounds like other instruments or noises and had drum buttons. It was fun then for her to poke around on the keyboard and make a lot of noise.

We still have that keyboard in a game room. We have noticed when she has friends over, we hear them playing with it. Through elem school and present, she has had music classes and she will just go play on that keyboard herself as well.

At the time, we over bought (age wise and money wise) but it has been a great investment, entertainer, and learning tool.

We found that if we bought a little ahead of her she would grow into so many toys. I think Leapster was just getting started when she was moving out of that stage. She had a little Vtech laptop (that still works). At this point, she has her own real Dell laptop which we have also found to be necessary for her school work and not just a nice thing to have.
