Any Good (Fiction) Book Recommendations?

I used to read (pre-baby) all the time and would love to start again. Could anyone recommend a 'must read' or a fun 'summer' read? I'm not picky about topics, but I do prefer fiction. I would just love a good book to get into and start reading again.

Thank you!

One of my all-time favorites is "Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons" by Lorna Landvik. I loved it!
I also just completed the "Twilight" series by Stephenie Myer. Although it's aimed at a younger audience (probably teen to early 20's), I really enjoyed it...almost couldn't put it down!

Hi. I completely remember those years of not having time to read for my own enjoyment. I have a 12 year old now and this summer I have enjoyed reading Queen of Babble by Meg Cabot. It is really funny, a good light summer read. Then I found out there are two more books in the group that follow...just finished Queen of Babble in the Big City while camping. Now I'm about to start Queen of Babble Get's Hitched. Read a few pages of the books on Amazon.com and see if it matches your sense of humor.

Hi E.,

I'm out in Pleasanton; we moved here about 4 years ago and love it too. It has been such a great place to raise our 2 little girls. I was the same way; I went about 2-3 years reading only, What To Expect When Your Expecting, What To Expect the First Years and What to Expect the Toddler Years, etc., along with all of the parenting magazines etc. Then it dawned on me, I hadn't read a book for me just for fun in a VERY long time - wow did I miss it!

I am a romantic at heart and I love Nora Roberts. I liked Table for Two and Time and Again, but she has many others as well.

Good Luck and Happy Reading!

I currently belong to a book club on line. You can go to goodreads.com and become a member for free. There are all kinds of books listed with descriptions. You can also send invites to your friends for them to join. Then you can see what they are reading and what they thought of the books they have already read. If you join, you can add me as a friend by using my email ____@____.com.

The best thing I can suggest is for you to join goodreads.com!

If you like, you can start by checking out my reading list here:

I have some fiction on there, but you can also connect with others or read book reviews.

Also, I really recommend the San Ramon Library. It is a great way to find books without having to spend money. You can use your account to search their catalog for books online and you can even reserve them online. They hold them for a week. Great system for busy moms!

I love Paulo Coehlo books-he wrote "The Alchemist." That is the work he is very well known for, but I have loved all of his books. Also "The Time Travelers Wife" That is a great read. A little confusing at the beginning, but a great fun read.

Jitterbug Perfume, by Tom Robbins... the dark chocolate of fiction...I also liked Water for Elephants. A good, fun quickie is St Lucy's School for Girls Raised By Wolves(or something close to that). very original, strange and imaginative. Have Fun!

An easy book to start with would be "The Next Thing On my List" and another one I'd recommend would be "Memory Keeper's Daughter" which is the book that got me reading all over again last summer.
