our house is too small to host a party. we are looking for an indoor room with a few tables and access to a sink for about 16 kids (8 year old). i have looked at the belmont parks & recs locations but wondering if anyone know anywhere in san mateo?

*edited* we already have an activity planned (doing science projects). we only need to rent a room for about 2 hours.

What can I do next?

If you don't mind going to Pacifica, check out Sea Bowl: http://www.seabowl.com/. Their kid's party packages start @ $17 per child, with an 8-child minimum. For an additional $2 per child, they will do the goodie bags for you. The package includes 1 hour of bowling, and 1 hour in the party room for pizza & drinks. Adults can order whatever they want to eat & drink from the bar & grill. You can bring your own cake & ice cream. We just had my son's 4th birthday party there and had a fantastic time. The service we received from our hostess was superb.

Good luck!

Why don't you try Beresford Recreation Center on 28th and Alameda. It is part of the San Mateo Parks and Recreation Department.

What about Coyote Point? If you don't mind being outside. I don't think it is very expensive to reserve a few tables??

Have you tried Safari Run in San Mateo? My son LOVES it there. It is a great facility, friendly staff, CLEAN, healthy and safe. www.safarirun.com or call ###-###-####.

Dear H.,
Try the Burlingame Lions Club. It's on the lower half of Burlingame Ave right next to Washington Park. Great hall for parties. Has plenty of tables, space and full kitchen. Don't know if you have to be a Burlingame res. though? I think you just call the Burl. Rec Dept. Have fun

Well, this won't work for the science project (sounds like fun!) but you could try a Gymboree space (there's one in San Mateo off hwy 92 & Hillsdale). They have all these fun, relatively safe things for the kids to crawl around, play on, explore and have a birthday party setup available. I don't know the details but a quick call will tell all.

oops, sorry, just re-read your girls' ages (my brain first saw 2 & 5!). Gymboree would likely be boring for them. There's a nice space in Belmont a friend had a party at off Ralston almost near El Camino - I think it's their parks & rec space.
