C., I am a single mom and just completed Limited Radiology. I went to TCC for 2 years just do the prereqs. I found All Star X Ray and switched gears. I have graduated and now in persuit of a job in the field. It is a slow process locating a position but I know that it will happen in God's Time not mine. I truly believe that the field of Radiology is a good career to persue. Let me know how your endeavors go. Good Luck!!

C.,
I don't have any of those degrees but I do have a degree in a healthcare field and work in a hospital. My husband is persuing a respiratory therary degree and has taken all the prerequesite classes, which are the same for the fields you are interested in. Nursing, radiology tech and surgical tech are all different degree programs. I will tell you that the programs are tough and competitive, but the rewards are great and jobs plentiful. I don't know about traveling surgical techs or radiology techs, but do know there are plenty of traveling nurses. My suggestion is to talk to the school counselor and maybe shadow a person in the fields you are interested. Volunteering at a hospital is another option. You might even look into finding a part time job in a hospital as many of them have tuition reimbursement for part time employees. Good luck!

My fiancee actually has a degree in radiology technology. It was a 2 year degree and opportunity is bountiful. He works at Children's Medical Center on the weekends, and is freed up for agency (temp.) work during the week. Example: He called two hospitals yesterday to inquire about available positions, and he's set up to fill out paperwork next week. Surgery centers are also great places for radiology techs to work. Not only do you get x-ray experience, but you can also gain knowledge in the surgical field. Radiology is a field that will never dry up because people will always break bones and (sadly) get illnesses that require chest x-rays. If you would like anymore information, or would like to speak to him, let me know. He'd be more than happy to talk to you. I think he likes talking more than I do, and that's saying something!

Good luck!

P.S. Just as with nursing, there are rotating and traveling radiology jobs as well. Two of the ladies I know who work with Louis are getting ready to begin traveling. It just depends on where you want to go.

I have a two year nursing degree. I'm not sure what your question is about a radiology or surg tech degree. But I'd be happy to answer any questions I can about a nursing degree. I graduated three years ago from TCC in ft. worth. If I can help, feel free to ask. Good luck.

I have a nursing degree. I will tell you that is very rewarding at times but can be very stressful at times. I have worked as a RN for 12 years and 10 of those have been in an ICU setting. I have NEVER had a problem getting a job. I have done travel assignments as well. I have never done this since having my son but it was a lot of fun. I hope this helps! If you have other questions, just let me know.
