I have a 4 year old daughter and 2 year old son. When its raining it seems we do the same old things every time, playdough, coloring with crayons etc... Does anyone have any unique ideas for a fun craft or game to do when stuck inside? Its pretty easy finding things for my 4 year old, but the little one I cant play with little pieces, like jewelry or something. Thanks!

Hi S. I have a 3yr old boy and he really loves the board game. Dont Break the ice, candy land, cootie, mouse trap, hi ho cherry-o, jumpin' monkeys ect Most of the Milton Bradley games are super cheap too.
My little ones, 3 and 2, just LOVE to color with watercolors. They could paint for hours, and that is really saying something for children that young!! I get a big piece of butcher paper, and roll it out on the table, taping the edges down under the table, and let them paint away. I give them each a little cup of water, their own set of watercolors, a brush and the fun begins. The butcher paper is big enough that they dont' use it up too quickly, and I usually find myself painting along side them, which they love when I participate! I also have some music they love, it has songs with actions they can do, and they love to sing along, dance, and do the actions along with the music. Bubbles are great fun, and really don't make a mess indoors, they can practice their counting while popping bubbles. Just a few of my kids favorite things to do. You can also go to www.familyfun.com they have so many ideas, and catagorized into ages, indoor, outdoor, etc.
To S.,
We like to paint like halloween, we use old halloween paint to make masks. They tell me what they want to be and I paint and we all laugh at how silly they look and take pictures. Then we make up plays they can do and even the little one who is 2 gets in on the fun. Thats what we do and it really is alot of fun, they get to pretend and use their imagination. I also got a wonderful gift from my brother in law. Its called cosmic catch and its alot of fun When we had my two years old birthday the kids all played it ranging from 10 to 2 of course the 2 year old needed help but they didnt mind. Just a couple of ideas. Also ther is nickjr.com. My 8 yr old is teaching my 2 yr old games on nickjr.com. Very educational.

I subscribed to the Family Fun Magazine. They have wonderful craft ideas in their magazine and on their website. Not sure if you can look at their crafts online w/o being a member, but it's worth a try. FamilyFun.com
Hello S.,
I know my son loves to draw pictures and maps for treasure hunts. What we have done sometimes, and we two bedroom & the living room in our apartment to play, we make a map and sort of play where's waldo or i-spy. I may have him gather a few toys and then I hide them and then he wanders around looking for them. Afterwards we will draw maps/pictures where we found the treasures (because we didn't move them) and then we will have someone try to find the treasures using our maps. Sometimes I will draw the map and leave clues through the path with more information about what we are looking for.
Hi S.! For my little girl we have started to make our own glycerine soaps, lotions, and body washes and we are having so much fun!! We buy the ready-to-pour supplies from a soap crafting shop. We can pick the scents, colors, soap molds, containers, and all we need is a microwave and we can happily create very personalized things for our own home and to give as gifts! My child can choose what we want to create, she can pick the mold, the scents, the color of our soaps and she can use the dropper and the mixing spoon and we're in business. She helps me choose the stickers we place on our lotion and bodywash containers too and helps me choose ribbons so she's involved in the whole process of creating something beautiful for our home or for someone else. It's also a good little side business. Have fun and enjoy!! Aloha
