Hi H.,

We love Myrtle Beach and have vacationed there for probably about 14 or 15 years. The first time we took our daughter, she was 9 months old and she fell asleep in her baby float in the lazy river. It was adorable!

The place where we always stay is Forest Dunes. It is located in Myrtle Beach, but not down town....which we love! It is crazy and congested there, and we love that we have more room where we are. It's more in a residential part of the town; on the north end of Myrtle Beach. There is a small road to cross to get to the beach, but it's not bad at all. We love it! We did decide that we were going to try another place a couple of years ago, but when we got there we hated it! We called Forest Dunes and they had one room and they held it for us.

We go during the fall because the rates are quite a bit cheaper and it's not so busy with all of the tourists. When Taylor was younger, we would just get the one bedroom and it was plenty of room for us. They are furnished, which is great! You can get with ocean view or ocean front.

Things we did when she was three......the miniature golf courses are amazing! That's something that we have never tired of, and she's 15 now. :) We also usually go to Dixie Stampede, which is a dinner show with horses and lots of action. She also loved that when she was young. There is also a carousel at Barefoot Landing, and some rides at Broadway at the Beach. Oh, also at Broadway there is a fun miniature golf course where a fire-breathing dragon comes out! That is still one of our favorite courses!

Forest Dunes has a lazy river (that they cover in the winter months), a hot tub, an outdoor pool, and an indoor pool.

Are you planning on going soon? The website for Forest Dunes is http://www.forestdunes.com/

If you have any additional questions, I would be happy to help. If you would like to give me a call, that's fine too.

I'll be anxious to hear what you decide!

Have a blessed day,

C. :)

We went last May (first week of May is a great time of year) and our kids were 3 and 4. It was perfect! We would go to the beach in the morning, then back for a rest and in the evening we would go somewhere. We went to Ripley's Aquarium at Broadway at the Beach and it was great. I would not recommened the NASCAR park though, slightly boring.
Renting a condo is great, but in the tourist months, June, July, and August, they are very pricey. A friend of mine has one that we used in Surf Side Beach, it is the next town south Myrtle Beach and is known as the Family Beach.
We are definitely going back, to me it was the best vacation, very relaxing and a good time for all of us!

Hi H.! We used to live in Charleston, which is an hour and a half south of Myrtle Beach. We vacationed there alot with our kids. I would recommend any of the Bluegreen resorts. They are 1,2 or 3 bedrooms with pools food, kids activities etc. They have Shore Crest which is closer to North Myrtle and also Sea glass towers which is on the strip I think. We haven't stayed at that one. Also, they have Carolina Grande and Harbor Lights. Thay are all realy nice. When you go there you could go to Broadway at the Beach. It has a great aquarium, cute kids shops, a Bild a Bear workshop and tons of live shows along the sidewalks. There are tons of things for kids there. If you stay at one of the Bluegreen places, you can ask the front desk and they can point you in the right direction too. Have fun!!

Its a perfect vacation for a family! The atmosphere is real beachy and you can get to the beach via many small parking lots on the strip/ just park and go! There is also LOTS to do. I would go! My son was 4 when we went. He LOVED it!

I've never been, but I do have one suggestion. Rent a place that has a kitchen. With a little one, it would be lots easier to be able to cook a meal at "home" then to eat out all the time. I've known several people that have done that at Myrtle Beach and loved it! Have fun!!!

Myrtle Beach would be great as a family with a 3 year old! Of course, here's where I become a bad poster because I forget all the names of the places to stay and things to do. If I recall correctly there is a place called the Promenade which is kind of like an arcade but bigger. I'm talking like toned down amusement park rides, games, shopping, food, etc. There's definitely a lot of stuff for parents and kids to do. I went there with a friend when I was 29 and we had a blast. We stayed in a condo on the beach, but a little ways up from all the action. Now as I reflect upon the trip, I think of how it would be such a good place for our family once our baby is a toddler - lots to do, clean beaches, a short flight, and not terribly expensive.

We took our 2 1/2 yr old there last May and had a great time. We stayed at the Sheridan Broadway Plantation (an RCI condo) which was great. It was North of the main strip which I highly recommend doing because it is pretty crazy right in town on the beach, especially if you go during bike week. Also, north of the main strip are little free parking lots w/ beach access and the beach isn't very crowded in that area. Broadway at the Beach had tons of restaurants and things to do. Have fun!!
