Any Suggestions for Removing Tiger Balm from Carpet?

We have a couple of stains on our new carpet (in our rental) from Tiger Balm (thank-you father-in-law!). If you're not familiar with Tiger Balm, it's a very waxy ointment. I've tried Resolve, a hot iron/paper towel (as it's almost like candle wax) and dish soap (for grease removing). The stain won't budge! May need to resort to hiring a carpet cleaner but do not want to spend the money. Please help!

What can I do next?

Have you tried soap and water then soap? I use Spot Shot to get stains out. It works great and on anything that the kids have spilled on the carpet. You can get it at Wal-Mart by the other carpet stain remover sprays. I have used a ton of them and this works the best. Good luck its never fun to get stains out of the carpet.

If you call Stanley Steemer, they always have good ideas for solutions to remove almost anything.

Have you tried Goo Gone? It has worked miracles at our house for stains like this. Be sure to test in a hidden area first to ensure it will not affect the carpet. (We have never had any issues with fading of carpet or clothing while using Goo Gone.) Also, maybe WD40? Sounds odd, but it is also one of those products that can do amazing things.

Good Luck!

I bought Xtreme from one of those door to door cleaner sales people and I have actually been VERY happy with it.. Not sure if it would work for you, let me know if you think you want to try it. Also the natural family thing... do they sell the reusable/washable swim diapers?

Try making a paste of borax and letting it sit there, I knwo this woked great for me when my son vomited grape juice all over my beige carpeting. I let it sit over night to dry and vacuumed it up and voila...no stain. The other thing yoiu could try is this..baby powder. I cut hair so I get clipper oil on my clothing all of the time...so I pour baby powder over the spot and let it sit over night and shake offf the excess...obviously with a carpet try vacuuming. Hope this helps.
