Any Suggestions on a Good Vacum Cleaner?

Ok this has been a sore spot with me for a while. Most of the time I feel like I've had a physical fight after vacuuming the floor. I have only one large area rug in my front room and all the rest is hardwoods. I do have two little boys, one cat and a pug that loves to shed. ") I would like a vacuum that works well and is not a thousand pounds to push around. I have a small one now (not an upright) and like the size but it just doesn't get the job done. "( Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

I can't tell you which one is best but I can tell which one NOT to get - ORECK. This vacuum is not user friendly other than it is light weight. It will not suck up a small piece of a candy wrapper or thread or paper clip but it will suck up an area rug with no problem. It does not have a height adjustment so if you have a higher pile carpet, you will wear yourself out pushing it across the carpet. It does lean back so you can raise it from tile to area rug or carpet - you have to pick it up to move it to the rug/carpet. The attachment canister vacuum is a pain in the rear end plus the hose gets clogged easily. Sorry I couldn't give you a good recommendation but I wanted to make you aware of the negative issues of the ORECK. It has been the worst, very expensive, purchase I have ever made.

They are not cheap, but I love my Dyson. It is great! ANy of them are wonderful. The Dyson on the ball is the easiest to push.

After going thru vacuum after vacuum, I used my sisters and loved it. It's light and easy to use. It is pricey though. But considering how fast we were going thru vacuums it definitely is saving us money in the long run, plus it comes with a great warranty. It's an oreck xl and it also comes with a little separate vacuum canister thingy. I don't know if that fits what you need as I have all carpet and you don't. Good luck!

In December I replaced my vac with the top of the line Oreck XL. I LOVE it. It is so light weight, has hepa filter, 10 yr warranty.

I got it at the Oreck store in Plano. I got a nice discount for offering cash instead of using a credit card or finance plan, they threw in some extra bags as well.

The attachments are a small canister type unit that you can wear on your shoulder. It is great for cieling fans, etc.

I am very pleased with my Oreck XL

Dyson Dyson Dyson.....I have a cleaning company and we have all dyson's. They have a 5 year warranty. They have been great! I love everything about them! You can use all the tools for curtains, baseboards. celing fans. light bulbs. anything! AND they go from hard floors to carpet with a little switch. You dont have any bags and you dont even have to touch the cannister to empty it....just a switch! As you can see we love the Dyson vacuum's!!!

I just got a dyson a couple of months ago when we got our income tax back. My husband didn't understand why I wanted it so bad. I had used my mom's at her house and fell in love with hers. Once my husband used ours he understood why I wanted it and wouldn't take any other one. It is easy to push and picks up everything. It also comes with quite a few gadgets and there are a lot more to buy online at their website.
