Anybody Ever Used Vusion Cream Before for Their Childs Diaper Rash?

Hi,
My son who is 14 mths old has been having ongoing troubles w/ diaper rashes for about 2 months. He had no problems ages birth thru about 10 months and then now we are constantly fighting a red bumpy horrible looking rash on his behind. Oddly enough it doesn't bother him at all. It's like it isn't there to him. We change his diaper constantly, catch him right away when he poops and still it doesn't seem to get any better. Now it seems to be traveling down the back of his little legs as well. Desitin, Butt Paste, A&D, you name it, we've tried it. So yesterday his pediatrician gave me samples of Vusion ointment to use. Just wondering if anybody had used this and how it worked. We will be starting it tonight after bathtime. Any suggestions would be great. I'm so frustrated.

thanks, D.

We are using Vusion cream right now on our 3yo DD. It seemed to work after the very first treatment. Our doc also recommended putting a couple of handfuls of baking soda into her bathwater and that seems to have helped as well-at least it didn't hurt.

It sounds like a yeast infection. Very common and hard to get rid of. Make sure he is eating yogurt with live cultures/taking a probiotic and/or taking acidolphilus (spelling). You can find the probiotic and acidoplpilus at a health food store, actually I think Target even has both now. Aside from that, lots of air time and an ointment we had success with is Lanoish (the stuff in the purple tube that is sold in the bottle aisle of Target meant for Momma's sore nipples while nursing) works great on rashes, dry skin, chapped lips, etc.. I know you went to the Dr. but if all he/she did was hand you some samples of a new medicine then check out www.askdrsears.com they have a rash section with pictures and recommendations.

Best wishes,
M.

We had a similar situation with our daughter back in May. Just out of the blue she had this unusual red bumpy rash on her vagina that neither her ped or the dermatologist could determine the cause. She had it for over a month and we tried everything. She's my third child, but my first to have this strange bumpy rash. Anyway, The determatologist gave her several samples of the Vusion and like magic it was gone in 3 days. It occasionally returns and I wipe it out straight away with the cream. The problem is the cream is absolutely OUTRAGEOUS in price. I checked with our local Walgreens and it was $280! I don't know what I'm going to do when I run out of samples. I think I'm going to have to "create" my own cream with the three common ingredients.

We had the exact same thing happen to my daughter at the exact same age. Vusion didn't work for us(although it was a yeast infection), so doctor prescribed oxistat cream. It worked, but it would eventually come back. I switched diapers to a chlorine fragrance free diaper. Seventh generation diapers are great. They are eco-friendly and my daughter hasn't got a rash since.

Vusion is amazing for yeast infection rashes - which it sounds like your son has. It is the only thing that helped my daughter's YI rash!

D.,
Yes, I have used it several times and think that it is AMAZING!!! I have two girls that are prone to yeast infections and diaper rashes. I love the stuff, unfortunately their insurance does not cover it, so the Dr. gives me samples when he can. Hope it was helpful for your little one. The only non perscription cream that works on my girls is Dr. S.'s (but only if it is not yeast related).

I haven't tried that but I would recommend trying Nature Babycare diapers from Target. They breathe and are made out of corn as opposed to non-breathable plastics like the other brands. I love them for my son and haven't had a problem with any form of rashes.
