I dont know if this helps or not, but my dad had a vasectomy and my mom still got pregnant afterwards.
I am wondering if anyone else has been through this. My doctor started me on a diet in March. My last normal period was in February. I have not had one since. I seem to have the normal PMS symptoms like I am starting my period - but never actually bleed. My doctor gave me a pregnancy test last week and said it was positive. I told him that was not possible because my husband has had a vasectomy (which I know can not always work, but it has been 3 years). I took another pee test today which they said was negative. They also drew some blood to check that as well. The doc also said that he was going to check for Ovarian hyperandrogenism and Asherman syndrome, which I have never heard of. Does anyone know what these are? Obviously I am worried, and I tend to over worry most of the time. Now, with all that in mind, I also started a diet in March and have lost 45 pounds, which he said also can affect my menstrual cycle. I was put on a drug called Adipex, which helps up your metabolism. It does work and I am happy with the results. However, I am worried that something could be horribly wrong with my uterus, and from what I looked up on the two subjects said surgery was the only fix. It did not mention what would come if the condition was not treated.I have always had normal paps in the past so I really am lost as to what is going on here. I have two beautiful children and obviously did not plan on having any more,(the reason for the vasectomy) but if I do, that is fine with me as well. I wont know the test results for a couple of days. Does anyone out there have any helpful advice? Thanks
Well, the doctor called and my blood pregnancy test came back negative!!!!!! I am so relieved. I am sure that sounds horrible of me, but I really did not want to be pregnant again after all the trouble I had with my last one. Anyway, we are still waiting for the results on the other tests! Thanks for all the great advice and support!

Hope its helpful
Try to write down all you questions now. And when you go back to the doctor if that's soon tell him "I'm feeling very nervous about this." If the appt isn't for awhile then call him. When your in the doctors office every time they say some big word that you don't know - just ask - right then - say "what is that?", "What could happen?, etc... I know alot of folks who never ask their doctor anything. Because they are rushing you, seem busy etc... We pay them alot of money. Ask, ask, ask... And some people just like to act like they know what the doc is talking about. The guy/girl went to school for 7 to 10 extra years. I would hope they know more than us.
And the most important thing - 95% of the things we worry about never come to pass. Give it to God and enjoy today.
God Bless,

I just did a posting on accuracy of pregnancy tests, anyway June 30th the dr took a preganancy test before she prescribed any medication it was negative, days later I felt I could start my period actually cramping hips hurt and back so I was ok i'm going to be on time, not so I had cramping for a good week then on last Wed.did a pee test at home inaccurate so I waited Fri. came back positive then Monday went in to take another test positive. The first one was to early to detect any HCG the hormone you produce only during pregnancy, the pee test at the drs office is accurate you can't buy these at the store so I was told and there was no need to do a blood test considering how late i'am and this is the second positive test.Anyway hang in there is is very possible you can be pregnant nothing is full proof allthough it is a small percentage. If it is your uterus be sure to ask questions and be satisfied before undergoing any surgery.I had a scare lst April and May I woke up to use the bathroom and all of a sudden I started to bleed uncontrolably I had no idea what was going on called my ob went to the er sitl bleeding after hrs of waiting and testing the ob came in to offer a DNC well I said no and was admitted to stay in for a hormonal treatment since there wasn't nothing wrong such as ovarian cancer and my daughter was 2 months old they said it was hormonal and will have a chance to occur again and it did this time did the DNC and the results were fine just my hormones out of whack. You may have to do several tests before they can determine what is going on.I'd hold off on any medication till you know for sure you aren't pregnant.
Congrats on losing the weight!! Now it is time to focus on the most important thing: getting your body really healthy. Must run right now, but you can e-mail me: ____@____.com, and I will be happy to help you. I represent a co. called Pharmanex and have sold their supplements for 10+ years. When I first took their products, I thought I was pretty healthy (size 6-8 working out), but I had forgotten what truly healthy felt like (ENERGY!!). I went down to a size 4...2...0... WOW. I've had 3 babies since then and I am back at a healthy size 2. I have a laser that will give you a read-out on your body's antioxidant levels, then we will give your body what it needs to heal, then re-scan in 2 months. (The technology won a Nobel Prize, so the measurement is not debateable.) If you are serious about your health, I would like to help you!
It could be hormonal as your doctor has suggested. I've never heard of those conditions either. Has he checked you for ovarian cysts at all? I hope you'll be ok. Keep up updated.
My cycles started going hay-wire and non-existant as well. My final diagnosis was PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). It's mainly a hormone issue, but if left untreated, could lead to other, more serious conditions. Believe it or not, it was my insulin levels that initiated this diagnosis. Have your doctor check your hormone and insulin levels. The treatment for this is usually medication and birth control of some kind (pills, ring, IUD). Your weight loss could be affecting your insulin and glucose levels. Missing my cycles for months at a time is what prompted my doctor visits. Good luck
All I can speak for is the diet medication and tell you I was once on it and my menstruals went crazy! So that could be your cause of things. Beware once you stop that medication you have to keep trying to keep the weight off! I gained almost all of mine back, but my size has stayed smaller than before. Kind of strange. I got used to the medication helping me loose weight and quit working out so when I stopped the pills I was in trouble! Just a little side note. Good Luck to you with everything!
When I was in school, I heard of a case where a man had multiple sets of Vas Deferens and I think had to have like 4 vasectomies. It was an extreme case but what happened was that every time the Dr. went to do the procedure he never found the other sets of parts until his wife got pregnant again and they had to do another one. That's just a guess isf you're pregnant. Another explaination, if this is the case, depending on how they performed the procedure (cevering the tubes or just tying/cartorizing them) it may have reversed and the tubes may have grown back together. My best friend has a third kid on the way right now but for her second pregnancy 4 yrs ago she took 5 or 6 tests that all came out negative but she could tell from how her body was behaving that she was pregnant. As for the other medical explainations, I really don't have any info for you because I've never heard of that either. I really hope it's nothing serious and it probably isn't because you did just start a new diet and you're on a new medication so that probably has a big part to do with it. I hope it it all turns out well for you. Good luck with everything : D
Hi E., I know the tests are much more accurate now than they were a few years ago, but back in the "olden" days, any time I had a pregnancy test done, it came back positive. There was just something about my hormone level that gave a false positive. I have always had a weight problem, and that may have entered into it, but I only have 3 sons!! No one could ever tell me why or what to do about the hormone problem, just that I had one. I had a complete hysterectomy in 1992, and have felt wonderful since then. My periods were always VERY heavy and left me drained, so I was much happier after the surgery. I don't know that this will help you in any way, but at least you will know that someone else had false positives with those tests. Good luck, D.
I don't know if you started exercising too, but my daughter was a gymnast for several years and most of the girls didn't really have menstrual cycles until they stopped the work outs. I would think that some diets could cause this too, but you need to go to your Ob/Gyn, I wish womens issues had better instructions with them!!
