Anyone Else Have Spotting While Pregnant?

I had a low progesterone level, they did a blood test and then put me on medication and this pretty much took care of it. I did not have to stay on the medicine the entire time - up until the 14 week +/- when the baby becomes dependent on the umbilical cord and not the uterin wall.

I had very painful cramping and spotting with my first pregnancy.It was in the VERY first few weeks. The blood was mostly brown in color. My doctor told me he would be more concerned if it were red. I had several healthy ultrasounds and nine months later a healthy little girl!!....However, I had a friend who started with it at ten weeks, had an ultrasound, and discovered that she had miscarried at eight weeks so stay cautious! I spotted off and on throughout my whole pregnancy. The first time it happened I absolutely freaked out!! The nurse said as long as it's light in color and amount that it's fine, and very common. Just make sure that it stays pinkish. I had a little bit of brownish too, she said that was old blood. As long as it stays pale and isn't much you should be OK. I noticed it happened a lot when I lifted things I shouldn't or overdid it, so please pay attention to that.

Hi M., Seems like everything that could go wrong, when your pregnant, jumps at you and says here I am. Funny how you don't notice them when your not. I had spotting with my fourth child, this was before ultrasound, He was fine. Try not to lift to much or strain, that's all I remember the DR. telling me.

I was pregnant with twins and when I was having back pain and some cramping I was dilating and they couldn't stop it in time. I was in labor and didn't know it.

I also spotted weeks 5-13 of my pregnancy and delivered a healthy baby girl. It stressed me out slso, but things were fine. Ironically, the OB told me that 1 in 3 pregnancies have spotting.

I had spotting throughout, starting at 2 months. The source was never confirmed, but we believe it was because of a large fibroid. We panicked everytime it happened sinc the first time we were told (incorrectly) that I had miscarried.

Interesting, I am having number 3 as well and the first month I spotted as well, never did with the other two. I did not have the back pain but I would have times where my heart would race. I would call the dr. and see what they think if you are having back pain. It is okay to be over parinoid about this kind of stuff. That is why your dr is there for you and why you pay him.

I spotted quite a bit during my first trimester and was scared to death - but my little guy is 3 now. My sister had actual heavy bleeding and clotting and it was a Subchorionic bleed - very scary - but my nephew is here and healthy and 18 months old. Some spotting and bleeding can be normal, since you have had your U/S's you will most likely be fine. Good Luck! and Congrats!!

I spotted during my second pregnancy and also know of many people who have spotted during the first and second trimesters sporadically.

Try to take it easy and relax, it can be common so it doesn't mean a loss. A sister of mine was told she had a cyst and that she'd spot until it vanished. Could be so many reasons.... So don't stress! ;)

I had that trouble with my pregnancies. It isn't uncommon but you may want to take it easy and get some friends and/or relatives to help out with the house and kids. I started with spotting then cramps and some lower back pain and my doctor said everything was fine and at about 3 months I miscarried. I went through 3 miscarriages until I finally had my oldest boy. I would put your feet up as much as possible and try to rest. It may be nothing but it is a slight possibility of a pending miscarriage. Just relax as much as possible and drink plenty of fluids. Good luck and I hope everything goes well for you.

I am 31 and have been married for almost 12 yrs. My husband and I have 3 boys ages 10,7 and 4.

I spotted, well, it was more than just spotting through the entire first trimester when I was pregnant with my twins. Ultrasounds always indicated there was not a problem. My doctor (fertility specialist) said it was likely due directly to my level of activity. I definitely noticed when I sat with my feet up and didn't do much, the bleeding was much less and even non-existent. If I would go run errands, it returned. They also had me drinking lots of water. It was definitely a scary expereince, expecially that I had already expereinced one miscarriage and there were times I was convinced I was miscarrying. Needless to say, the boys are getting ready to turn 2 in just a few weeks. Best of luck!

I had spotting and cramps throughout my thirs pregnancy. It is very stressful. I really got to know my doctor well! :) She told me to rest, put my feet up. I went to see her and called her everytime it happened!

I did. When I called my OB, he said to lay on my left side and drink lots of water. Spotting/cramping went away after a while.

with my second pregnancy, in the beginning of it I had a period that lasted 3months and than started spotting after it skipped 2months. I had asked my doctor at the time if this is normal, she said at times it was normal for certain women. See with my first I was really active and hardly had any stress or worries and hardly gained weight. With my second I gained lots of weight, stressed out, worried and was even bed ridden. And was told that stress can do that to women who are pregnant. You can talk to your doctor more and find out if there is anything to worry about. Good Luck!

I had spotting with 2 of my 4 kids. (Both boys if that means any thing) With my last one I had to have progestrone because it was low. I would ask to have that checked. Good luck.

M., I had spotting with my first pregnancy starting around the same time--about 10 weeks. I'd spot every day, mostly dark brown blood but sometimes bright red as well. The volume was never very much, just enough to need a liner. I was absolutely terrified, and had several ultrasounds too. Baby was always fine. It lasted almost until the end of my first trimester and then stopped. Nothing I did seemed to make it better or worse, and none of the doctors had a good explanation. I had no other problems with the pregnancy (other than a very big healthy baby girl who needed a C-section to come out!). I didn't have cramps, though (although sometimes I was so anxious about the spotting that I would THINK I was starting to feel cramps). Hopefully your spotting is equally innocuous!

Yes, I have experienced this. The best thing to do according to my OBGYN was to get off of my feet, elevate them, and take it easy for the rest of the day. No heavy lifting, (this meant things over 5 pounds), no walking for any great distances (this meant no going to the park, the grocery store, etc.), and no standing in one place for any great length of time (he told me more than 4 to 5 minutes).
I had a healthy baby girl so I guess things worked out all right.

I had spotting at about 12 weeks and then it continued even into my 5th month...needless to say, I was afraid but I did keep my doc informed and they monitored what they needed too and all was well..it was stressful but enjoy your pregnancy..like my doctor said...you enjoy what your going through, and let me worry about things..

I had the same thing through my first and second trimester with my second pregnancy. Doc said not to worry but of course I did. Everything was fine though, if eventually stopped early in my third trimester and I know have a very healthy baby boy!

I have 3 children and never spotted, although it may be normal to do so I would call my OB instead of seeking advice from here.
