B.C.
We're at home over the holiday but we like it here.
Honestly, most holidays I love staying home, watching the traffic report and rejoicing that we are not in it.
What are you planning to do to honor the last weekend of summer?
My hubby's on-call, so we have to stay in town.
Anything going on in the city of Chicago or nearby suburbs??

Staying home. Catching up on laundry. Painting the bathroom (just remodeled). Doing lots of cooking... as of Tuesday I have no kitchen counters or sink for almost 2 weeks.
If you feel stuck at home, why not invite over a few friends?
I am working late, then driving 5 hours overnight to visit family as soon as I get changed out of my work clothes. It's going to be good, but I'm way burned out and kinda wish I could stay home and just watch netflix and eat chips and salsa all weekend. :)
we are mostly staying home. sunday afternoon we are going up to vegas to visit my mom who is moving back there and will be there overnight.
I'm looking forward to being home, having the house all to myself, and not doing a damn thing!
Tropical storm blowing through my area - quick errands in the morning then hunkering down through Monday.
:)
we are home, but i'm happy about it - i need some chill out time after the past few weeks of craziness! we'll probably just hang out some, bathe our dogs, do some yardwork, out to watch college football with some friends tomorrow night, swim in the backyard, not sure what else... and i'm feeling anti-social and not up to cleaning/entertaining, so we probably won't even invite anyone over :) i just want some quiet time for the 5 of us!
I will be home, but wouldn't call it "stuck." We're having a yardsale on Saturday to try to get rid of some of the clutter stuff around the house. Then, we have BIG plans to do lots of work around the house and yard. We are having our Housewarming Party next weekend, and this is our last chance to get so many things finished up! Fortunately, grandma offered to take my girl all day Sunday, keep her overnight, and let her hang out most of Monday! It's amazing how much more work you can get done when there isn't a little person underfoot!
So, in honor of Labor Day, I will be participating in some serious Physical Labor! :)
Kate:
We are staying home. BY CHOICE!!! Hope you enjoy yours!!!! BE SAFE!!!
Don't forget my hubby lost his job 2 months ago...thank God for savings!!
We will BBQ and have family fun!!!
We have a birthday party planned for tomorrow and a baby shower on Sunday....
Tuesday school starts!! THANK GOD!!!! YAHOO!!!!
I'm having a 1st birthday party for my niece who, with my brother lives in France. They leave on Sept 11th to go back and I'm pretty psyched that she's here for her birthday so we can celebrate it.
I love staying home! LOL I am kind of anti-social mostly! I have obligations Saturday (farmers market, visit step-gramma-in-law with my daughter, then to babysit some relatives so they can go out to celebrate her in laws 40th anniversary! 5 kids to watch with my teens help!), maybe a bike ride Sunday..and some vegging.
My turn came up for "Black Swan" from the library..so I will pop over and pick that up and I think Monday I will stay in my PJs and watch it!
I will be mourning the end of school vacation, wishing my kids were preschoolers again, dreading what comes after our lovely autumn (we do not speak it's name), and likely picking fights with anyone who claims to love me.
:(
(Wow, somebody needs a nap!)
Heaven yes! I get to stay home! I plan on putting up some counter tops in my basement office area and making a desk out of antique doors for my daughter. I need a weekend with nothing to do. Going somewhere would mean fighting crowds and packing for four kids. I need a break from that kind of labor!
We're home all weekend too. Saturday my husband's going dove hunting with the guys from work. I think I will likely hang out here at home and possibly make my friend some food. She just had her baby yesterday. Last time I made enchiladas, her and her husband raved about them, so I think I'll make that for her and her hubs so they can take at least one meal off of their to-do list now that baby's here.
And is it really the end of summer? Wow. Here in Texas, the weather says 'summer' for at least another 2 months. ie - I still wear shorts and flip-flops on Halloween sometimes.
My weekend will be mostly spent cleaning/organizing my garage. We are planning to get out of the house to go to Ikea for a couple things and also going to a bbq with friends. I'm going to top off my weekend with grocery shopping for a month's worth of food.
I'm not just stuck at home, but I'm busy as heck. My extra little girls are here while the parents go to Korea for the weekend. Can you imagine having the income to just weekend around the globe? :) In the year I have known them, they have been in Rome, France, Hong Kong, Korea and I can't remember wherever else.
Then, I get a call from another mom wanting this weekend for business reasons and I have my normal weekend kiddos. I can NOT complain. It's money. But it's going to be just another working weekend :)
My husband is out of town so
I am going to do some major cleaning(can enjoy for 2 days) He'll come home and dump all his stuff in the middle of the living room.
Plan to go to the park with my son and get his pool out at least on Saturday because it will be like 95 here.
Might go the movies with my son.
I get to enjoy sleeping in the middle of my bed with the fan on and no snoring.
Yep, we're not up to much.
It's not really our end of summer, though... we were in the 110's all week. For us, summer will still go on until October. Ick.
Got rid of the kids for a weekend, husband took three days off in a row!!!! :o We planned on painting the living room, but you know...it seems a little humid for that...so maybe we'll just...ya know...lay around ;)
It's gonna be a perfect day weatherwise on Monday to go to Brookfield Zoo. I'm sure about a million other people will feel the same way but, oh well. We're still going with our cousins and a family friend or two.
Summer already ended for my kids... they were back in school last month.
Who knows what we are doing... things just sort of happen.
Naperville's Last Fling is this weekend and it's a lot of fun. Plenty of things for kids to do.
