I have a 17 year old grandson I raised.since he was 13 months old...he truly is a gift from heaven~ a computer whiz~ he does every thing, installs programs, repairs,
trouble shoots he does it all!!!He wants to make it his lifes work~~ he will be going to college next fall He is a very smart child~ but in some things he really needs help~ God made him that way so i could love him more~~
enjoy your son while you can~~ in mean time talk to every one, read, read & read every paper you can get your hands on about aspergers..years ago i started a 3 " notebook ~~now it is full of clippings notes about aspergers, and is a wonderful tool for me to help my sonI elected to stay at home & help Josh as much as i could, I started a in home child care, to provide him with playmates so i could observe his interactions with other children, behaviors & etc. I continued it al these years.so i could be home with him...I am glad i did for i feel i gave him the best i could by helping him every day 8 to 10 hours on educational drill on computer I purchased programs about math, reading english foreign language & etc for him...he was always busy learning somehing on the computer. He has a job working 15 hours a week every afternoon after school(he gets out at 11:00) & rides bicycle 12 miles total round trip everyday ~
toook him 3 years to learn to ride a bike but he DID IT !!!
He is graduating @ age 17 with honors~ if it sounds like i am proud of him, Yes you are right!!almost forgot abgout his recent accompolishment last week he took the A+ computer certification test part one & passed with flying colors~Dec. 14 he will take the 2nd part of the test this certifies him to work on computers in any shop any where! they are truly a gift from GOD.Hope this info helps!
