Hi ladies,
I am looking for a dentist in the Sac area. I live in North Natomas, so the closer the better. I would like a smaller practice that has a more personal feel instead of a place that is huge...we tried Park Place Dental and didn't really like it. Please let me know if you have anyone you would reccomend!

Thanks so much!
J.

J.,
I happily recommend the offices of Dr. Finerty, it's a husband and wife team and I have been going to them for many years...they are located at 555 Capitol Mall on the 7th floor...parking validations provided as I generally park under the Macy's Mens and Furniture building. Call Stacey at ###-###-#### and she'll answer any questions/concerns you might have!!
Good luck!
Deb
And, I noticed someone else recommended them!!!
How cool is that!!!

I had bad experiences with both Park Place Dental and Market West Dental, which are connected since I found the same dentist at both. I don't know what insurance you have, if you have any, but I have started going to Natomas Dental Care which is on Northgate. It is an old-school office with the bitewing xrays and no bells or whistles, but rather than the $6,000 of work proposed by the other two, the dental work I needed was only $500. They didn't try to get me to buy crowns and inlays and onlays which aren't covered by insurance, and instead actually gave me fillings! (It had been many, many years since I had been to the dentist). They were great with my son, though he was too afraid to get a filling, so for him we are now going to Children's Choice Dental which is right off Truxel near Arena. So far that place is wonderful for him. The dentists talk to him and do a lot of things to make him feel comfortable. (The insurance had sent us to Dr. Toledo, but he wanted to sedate my son for xrays and do root canals and crowns instead of fillings, which was not necessary and very much like Park Place Dental).

Hi J.,
I can't recommend anyone in the Natomas area but I know two VERY good dentists downtown at 555 Capitol Mall #790. They are a husband and wife team named Drs Michael and Jennifer Finerty and their number is ###-###-####.
I have personally worked with Dr. Michael Finerty and have found him to be fun, gentle and conservative. His wife is also VERY nice. I personally know many dentists in the Sacramento area, just not Natomas. Before you go to any new dentist, call the Dental Board of California to see if they have any complaints. You can also request your x-rays from your previous dentist as it is your right. They CAN charge a copying fee though. My best advice is to schedule a consult/exam to meet the dentist before scheduling for ANYTHING else. Feel free to email me with any dental questions.
Sincerely,
L.

If it is for you, Dr. Paul Jo in midtown. It's a small practice and he is very good. If it's for your kids, his wife (but I'm not sure her name or where she practices I'm sure they would tell you if you called.) The reason I know she is good b/c she comes to her husband's practice every other month or so and sees kids there.

Hi J., I live in Rio Linda and also tried Park Place because it was really close. I hated it. The dentist I saw was pretty scary and made it very clear that if money was an issue for me, that I could not expect good service. I was appalled.

Anyhow, at one of the parties I was performing at, the conversation drifted towards all things dental. It turned out everyone in the room almost was a dentist or worked in the field. I went to Dr. Larry Cao as a second opinion and he was fabulous. He's nice and gentle and won't push procedures on you that you won't need. His staff is wonderful. I've never feel like I've gotten the run around there.

I've had him, repair a broken filling --with tooth colored filling, not the silver stuff. :-)
He pulled my last wisdom tooth (and out of the four of them, this was the best removal I've ever had. The first two scarred me for life against dentists)--best of all he did it without having to send me to a specialist. :-)
He did my root canal and put a crown on--without having to send me to a specialist. :-)
Now, he's doing my Invisalign Braces for me--without having to send me to an orthodontist.

All of this and he's got great rates!!!!!!!

I've got my mom going there too. I won't go anywhere else until he retires (and I don't think that will be for many years.)

The only drawback is that he's on the other side of the world from us. :-) Orangevale anyhow. It's really easy to get there, there's just a million stoplights between me and him. At least 30 anyway. Get on Elkhorn and stay on it. It will turn into Greenback and you still stay on it. Pass up the Sunrise Mall. When you get to Hazel Ave, turn right. About a block later you turn right into his office. All Smiles Dental Care. You'll see the sign.

Here's his contact info. Dr. Larry Cao, All Smiles Dental Care. Phone Number: ###-###-####. Website: www.orangevaledentist.com.

He's not the closest, but he's got to be one of the best!

P.S. If you take an iPod, you can listen to whatever you want instead of listening to the drill. :-)

Hi J.,

We also tried Park Place Dental and had a terrible experience. I found out later through my Mom's Club that many people have had problems with this practice. I was recommended to Dr Reed Puelicher who is at Natomas Crossing so it would be really close for you. He was great - I hadn't been the dentist since getting pregnant with my first (2.5 years ago....) and was kind of embarassed but he made me feel totally comfortable. Their prices are also really reasonable and they don't try to tell you you need things done that you don't.

2121 Natomas Crossing Drive, Suite 100

Good luck!

I shed my old dentist after having a kid because his personality left me cold & I didn't want my daughter to have that to look forward to when it was time to see the dentist. I like my new dentist Dr. Bolstad, and the office is bright, clean, kid friendly:
