Try Ironite first and then alternate with fertilizer. Our was the same and we brought it back without have to replace, reseed or re-sod. Good luck
I've been trying to have my front lawn look decent again..make it nice and green again. We've been soo busy that we've neglected our front yard. It's sad.
Any ideas to make it green again?
Thank you!!!!

Water and a good fertilizer.
Check out Gardens Alive.com they have some great organic grass seeds
my husband fertilizes our lawn every 8 weeks & it keeps it looking green all year. He is very proud of it ;)
Hi Mama-
I truly understand the lawn issue. A couple of things you can do: soak it. Water it until the water runs onto the sidewalk. Keep that stuff moist and hydrated. If it doesn't start to come back, you may need to airate the grass and throw some seed (scott's or some other brand) or miracle grow spray onto it. To airate it, get some of those spikes you stick on the bottom of your shoes and walk over the grass. It punches holes through the grass and into the dirt, breaking up bound roots and allowing oxygen and light into it. It's actually good to do this to your lawn at least every couple of years.
The biggest key, though, in my opinion, is water. Then nutrients if it seems to be lacking.
Good luck!

Fertilize!!!!! Ask at OSH which is a good one - Ican't remember what my husband uses. DO NOT USE IRON. Any spec you get on your sidewalk or concrete or landscaping rocks will be STAINED orange (although your lawn may be greener....) Be sure to water properly as well. It is better to water shorter periods of time and more times per day than to water a longer time all at once. Here in the valley we water for 10 min in the middle of the night and 10 min in the morning. Do not water in the heat of the day. Keep your lawn mowed at a slightly higher setting in the summer when it's hot (to retain water) and lower in the winter. Good Luck!
We will be working on this next year. You could put down some new dirt, just a light layer sprinkled on top of the existing and then some new grass seed. Water but do not overwater, and a good fertilizer in April or so. My husband thought that you should water everyday and pretty much killed our yard a couple of years ago. Finally convinced him too much is a bad thing.
Aerate, seed, chicken poop (DPW- dry poultry waste), and water. Good luck!
Fertilizer and water.
