Hello Mommy's!!

I have been seeing a few posts lately from US moms who are living abroad. I thought it would be nice to support each other and possibly share resources if we are living in the same areas. I am living in Richmond, London. I have met some wonderful moms and have connected with the American Womens group here. Would love to chat with other American moms who are experiencing life in another country.

So What Happened?

I posted this because I noticed about three or four people commented on how they are living abroad. I thought that was interesting considering this is a website based in the United States. I just thought is would be interesting to see if there were other people living outside of the US. As I said in my original post, I have networked with our American Moms group in my community and have met many other wonderful moms from the school my kids are going to.

I spent almost 10 years over seas, first 5 in Okinawa Japan, and than 4.5 in the UK. I lived in Ely. I loved living overseas, and since returning to the US, have longed to go back. Enjoy your time and make the most of it. I hate big cities, but I loved, loved, loved London. It does not feel big since it is so easy to travel around in, and the feel of it, it just fit for me.

I'm not living abroad, but just want to say I'm so jealous! My husband worked in Richmond a lot a few years back, and I went over for a visit (pre-kids!) Richmond was such a fabulous area! Enjoy. And kudos to all you mommies who live abroad--it can't be easy.

I am Dutch living in Boston and am also a recent naturalized citizen after 30 years in the country. I imagine you might have better luck finding local "Yanks" on a more local blog or via the US Embassy in London. In Boston the Dutch Embassy has groups for business connections or leisure outings. The hospital where I gave birth also has mom's groups and can connect moms with similar aged kids, perhaps a local London hospital could do the same for you - of course they may be mostly British. Good luck finding more like minded mommy friends abroad.

Hey, I am a German Spouse to an American Soldier, currently living once again in Germany, where Hubby will be retiring from the Army after 20 years...
There are a few US bases/posts in the UK, I would try to find more contacts there (not sure if you are affiliated with the Armed Forces)
Take care
