Is it just me, or is this a rude question? Since 4 different nosy strangers have asked me that in the last week I guess my stomach must be pretty big. First they ask when im due, then the twins question... As if having my rude MIL (who by the way is at least 100 lbs overweight) constantly making comments about how she can tell the babys getting bigger, now I have to hear it from complete strangers. Anyone have any snappy comebacks?? Arg... I guess Im just over being pregnant and def over constantly having to anwser ?'s about it- Im gonna snap on someone, lol!

What can I do next?

If a woman asks if you're having twins, just look at her blankly and say, "No, are you?"

Diana P -I hadn't read the other responses when I wrote this one! I think it's a good comeback though!

Dontcha love how boundaries just FLY out the window when you're pregnant? All of a sudden people grope you, ask insanely personal questions, become the little bluebird of happiness telling you their terrible labor stories, stick their noses into your finances, marriage, sex life?

Actually, I've said something similar when people have crossed the line and I'm feeling my oats. Along with:

"Hasn't anyone ever told you what a bad idea it is to tell a pregnant woman she's fat?"

But, for myself, people asked all the time. In all reality, my placenta was the size of 3 babies (over 20lbs when they're usually about 3lbs), and my son was in there as well (born at 10lbs), so I really was huge.

I must be in a bitchy mood tonight, but I'd be tempted to respond with, "No. Are you?"

It is rude you are correct. More rude? Having someone argue you with you that you are when you really aren't. Had this happen to me when I was pregnant with my son. I had a woman come up to me and ask when I was due and literally argue with me in the middle of the store aisle that I was having twins and got upset with me that indeed I was only having ONE. Thanks for the ego boost woman. Not! Lol.

People are rude and don't think before they speak.

I totally feel for you. About 5 or 6 months ago I posted something similar to this because I was sick of people telling me I was having twins and monitoring everything I ate. Around 8 months along they finally stopped saying it and started telling me I looked great, I guess my body finally caught up or something. At the time I really hadn't gained that much weight. I don't think people know what to say to pregnant women. I was going to have a T shirt printed saying "It's just one baby in there" to shut them up. Hopefully your baby will arrive soon and then it will be a distant memory.

I used to get the same comments from strangers, with both my pregnancies.
My tummy, was just HUGE, as I got more pregnant each week.
And most all strangers, thought I had multiples in there.
I felt like it!
But, I only had 1 baby in there.
I never thought it was rude per say... but I'd laugh too, because, I knew my tummy was huge, myself. It was funny. It was actually hilarious sometimes.
I never got offended by the comments.
Both my kids were born over 8 lbs. and 21" long.
And I am not real tall.

When pregnant with my twins, I only had one person ask me if there was more than one baby in there. When people would ask my due date, I'd get raised eyebrows, but only one person asked outright (and I was HUGE - they combined for 16 lbs!!! I had two eight-pounders).

With my daughter (10 lbs, 7oz), I was asked by no less than 15 complete strangers during my last two weeks if I was having twins. I never had a comeback. I didn't mind being huge. I knew it meant my baby would be born big and healthy, which is a blessing.

I am 12 weeks and look 6 months, but have barely gained any weight. I just balloon early. No one believes me when I say I am not due until the end of June.

I also love the "Was it planned?" question. Well no, but we are completely thrilled with our "suprise third blessing", but really what business is it of yours anyways???

Good luck and congratulations.

I am only 4 months and just now showing and I have been asked this about 5 times. Just wait, there will be more questions once that baby comes out, "Don't you think your baby is cold and needs an extra blanket?..."

The one question I hate more than anything, "Was it planned or a surprise?" Hmmm... let me allow you into my husband's and my private family planning conversations and sex life.

I DO have twins, but sadly, I was bigger with the single babies that followed them than with the twins. Since I already DID have twins, it was ALWAYS asked. SUCH a confidence builder. Sheesh.
