I must say i'm not it was a hard summer with my car being taken from mother nature this summer (I do have a new one now)I didn't get to do anything I had wanted to do with my kids that I had planned. Now getting them ready to go back 2 school seems like it has been a short summer, another year older I just want to cry.The good part is routine is coming back.

What can I do next?

Geez.. I must be the worst mother on the planet, but I CAN'T WAIT FOR SCHOOL TO START!!! My 2 are driving me nuts! Between the back to school shopping and the constant bickering I'm ready to have some quiet me time.

Reading the other posts makes me feel kind of guilty... oh well - off to pull the big one off the little one - AGAIN!

I'm really not ready. I never am. I love having my kids home. Even if we do "nothing," we seem to have fun. They grow too fast!!!

Yes! 1st grader and preschooler are excited to start school, and I am excited to go grocery shopping alone! We've had our share of fun this summer, and I do like being on a more regular schedule.

This summer was planned as a "do nothing" summer. The past couple of summers were simply too busy and I felt with all of my health issues and how busy we are during the school year on top of having to keep my middle daughter in a very busy summer school program, a "do nothing" vacation with only a few planned outings plus season passes to Six Flags was the perfect plan.

I'm SO READY for the girls to go back to school. They start August 30th. I have a lot of things planned for getting myself treated by a rheumatologist to getting help from DSS since it's tough to do with the kids home all day every day.

I watch 4 kids plus my own two. The two eldest are 8 and 10. The ten year old is mine and they are so stir crazy b/c of the heat and being with little kids all day that all they do is fight and pick at each other lately and her mom and I agree that is sooooooo time for school to start, lol.

I'm with you.. the summer flew by. I feel like we didn't go to the pool enough or the zoo or camping. It was a summer of short funds so we didn't get to have all the adventures I would have liked. On the other hand, I am SO glad to have some peace and quiet. And ROUTINE!!! Yay for back to school!!! :-)

Our summer has sucked too. I was sick with pneumonia for 3 weeks and hospitalized....so ALL of July we did nothing. We moved at the end of July (Ok, my husband moved us) and are in a great place. Hopefully the rest of August will rock!

Yes, because my kids are a bit stir crazy, and even the pool and beach aren't cutting anymore. (Our excessive heatwave doesn't help when the pool water is 80 degrees and the beach is about 78. ugh) I think I'm looking forward to the routine of school and they are looking forward to their afterschool activities. It is sad to think my kids are growing up so fast though, so I feel your pain. I will be glad to not have to constantly entertain them 24/7 and to grocery shop alone! ha ha! Thank you teachers! :)

My daughter is 16, Cheerleader, heading to 11th grade so she has been at school a lot of the summer already. We had to plan trips around her cheer schedule!

I do look forward to school being back in session and I believe she does too because it is the routine we are accustomed to and like. The only thing for her schedule this year is she'll have to report to school at 8am instead of 9 am like she has done since 6th grade! That means, she has to leave around 7:15 am to get through traffic, get a parking spot and get to class on time. She will not return home before 5pm any day due to cheer practice and we have games on Thursday and Friday nights so those are late nights!

They grow up way too fast, I can't believe we are at Sr. High and only have 11-12 grades left before she is off to college!

School officially starts on August 22

Im at a cross roads with that one.
yes, yes and yes for the older 3!! The closer it gets the more naughty they are being ( 8 days!! to go) Yesterday I told them I was done, they kept going... so I told them to go stand at the school and wait for the bus, don't return until its dark or the bus comes what ever one comes first! ( the school is a block away) My oldest looked at me and said so are you ready for us to go back already? My look said it all!

No Im not ready for my two younger ones to start preschool. I know once they are in school the grow up way to fast and time slips away to quickly. I know they are only half days but still. My daughter is only going one half day a week. Just to get her around other kids since neither of my younger ones have really been around other kids thier age. She is so shy I think it will be good for her and not as much as a shock putting her in next year for the 4 day.

I feel like you were in my head this morning. I was driving to drop my girls off at summer camp and I thought to myself this time next month they will be in school and I just can't deal with it. This summer flew by and I am beginning to get really depressed about losing daylight early, cold days, snowy days and the routine. I love not having a routine, yesterday I got home got them in the minivan and we were off to the park to feed the ducks, bike-ride and some skating. Got home at 8:30pm had pizza and off to bed by 9:30pm. I thought this is the life! My baby is starting kindergarten and I am just not ready for that. It seems like moms with the older kids are ready but I love, love the summer and spending time with my kids I don't want it to go away. I'm getting emotional just thinking about it.

Yes! My 4 year old has had a fairly rough summer, being cooped up for much of the time due to the new baby's sleep needs. I know they say, "when mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy," but around here, it's more about keeping the oldest one happy. He can't wait for school to resume!

I'm ready to start making money again and I only make money when there's school so there's THAT. :)

This year will be my son's second year of school and will be in 4K. I was ready the last day of SUMMER SCHOOL. The class was called "getting ready for kindergarten" and he took it SERIOUSLY! For the last three days all he's asked is "when am I going to 4K MOM?!" My answer has been "not SOON enough, not soon enough..."

Nope. I never am. I love having my children with me all the time. (yes, I'm serious; no, I'm not insane)

Every year, I drop my children off with their teachers, hang around the school talking to other parents and checking out the school store for as long as I can, then go sit in my car in the parking lot and cry for half an hour.

I know - it's pitiful. sigh

But to me, what's REALLY horrible are the moms in the neighborhood I live in. They all walk their children to the bus stop, then stand around talking until the bus comes, and then collectively cheer when the bus pulls away with their children. Then they all head up to the pool and drink beer and party until it's time for the bus to come back.

I hate when my girls have to go back to school and they are teens! I have always been that way. I love spending time with them and they with me too. And it HAS been a very short summer. Not sure why, but it has and others have said so too. Enjoy the last few days, there is always next summer. Good luck and God Bless.
