I am a stay home mom to a beautiful almost 3 yo boy. Like most of you who stay home, my day consist of waking up, fixing his food, cleaning up, organizing home, doing laundry and then getting ready to get out with the little one, he is active and needs to play outside, walk outside everyday, he loves that esp now that it's summer. I take him to the park or playground, I also do my food shopping then we return home and I clean some more and do housework, I read to him about 6 x a day and try to do at least 2 structured games with him (ie playing catch ball or initiate doing puzzles with him). I then cook dinner and my husband comes home, he bathes my son (that's their time together) and then I read to my son and then he goes to bed. What is your day like with your little one?

I'm totally not there yet (my little guy is only 10 months), but if you're interested in shaking things up a bit, you may want to find some playgroups on meetup.com. There are a ton of Mommy groups in every area. That way you will both get to socialize.

Everything else sounds great!

You sound like a great mom! I will say that it is so much easier when they have brothers and sisters. They have built in playmates that way. I am exhausted just reading your post. He's so blessed to have you!

wow.....i am impressed. That is great. I am not too sure about things getting easier when they have siblings. I have an almost 3 year old and a 18mo old. And WOW is it tough. Hopefully it will get EASEIER soon.

You basically just described my day with my 2.5 yr old boy. Except that my husband and I usually bath our son together. We usually try to do one activity for the day, before lunch, then after lunch, he naps. Or at least lays in his bed for a little while. Some days we stay home all day, like today, but played in the water outside. I also have several friends that have children his age. So we get together at least once a week to give them interaction with each other. Oh and I also belong to a gym that has a daycare. So one of my M. friends and I take our boys to the gym daycare (which they love) and we work out. I try to do arts and crafts with him or do things that will encourage creativity. We go to Barnes and Noble alot to look at books. He loves it and its a great rainy day activity.
I just try to mix it up for him so its not the same thing everyday, but so that he has structure while experiencing a variety of things.

I work full time but sometimes during the week, I am off with my son who is three in just a few weeks.Sometimes we go to the park, feed the ducks then go on the slides and the swings. Sometimes we go to goodwill and look around and i buy him a few inexpensive toys or movies. Now at night he likes running around outside and catching fireflies. We walk around outside when it is not too hot. I am always cleaning and doing laundry when I am at home. Sounds like you are doing well and are a good mother. My son likes coloring too but I have to make sure he does not color things he is not supposed to. He likes Thomas the train and plays a lot with his trains. He is soon going to have a Thomas the train bed. We have also been working on the potty training and doing quite well. If you feel like you need some variety take him to the pool during the day or do some mommy and me classes. Good luck

Yep... I have a 3 year old boy too...
Yep, the day is like that.
Except my son also naps, we also have play-dates, I also do crafts with him and playing soccer. He also likes playing basketball now... and can dribble like a pro! So we play that a lot.
And I also have him do some sort of "chores" and "helping Mommy' type things... and lots of pretend play too. Which my son likes.
And we garden.
And then I also "work" at my desk/computer... and then that is either at his nap time or his "self-directed" time.
And then I also have a 7 year old... so then I have to split my time between them and/or we do things ALL together and well, lots of juggling.
LOL

I think you are typical as most Moms.

all the best,
Susan

Hello:) I have a 3 yr. old boy and a 6yr. old boy. My boys have always been early risers so in the mornings we have breakfast and they watch tv and play quietly around the house. I then get them outside for a little while before my 3 yr. old naps. After naps we usually do the sprinklers or pools, something active outside. Around 5ish we have dinner, have baths, and read before bed. My oldest son also likes to play the Wii with my husband for a while before bed too. You are doing a super job. He does a lot and you are spending a lot of quality time with him!! He is blessed!!:)

My little girl is 20 months old and we typically eat breakfast together and watch one of her "Signing Time" dvds.

Then we usually get dressed and play outside for a bit. We may use chalk on the driveway, throw all of the balls around, play with her baseball tee, go for a walk, swing, play in her pool or other water play.

We come back in and play with her big legos, and do a puzzle or play with her pretend food, or dressup, read books, turn on the radio and dance together.

We may also run to the store and pick up a few things if needed. If not we try go to a free or inexpensive activity outside of the home...storytime at the library or Barnes and Noble, puppet shows, open gyms and playtimes for toddlers in our area.

She naps and then lunch and more of some of the activities listed above until daddy gets home and he plays with her.

We both give her a bath, and then my husband puts her to bed after we have a bit of quiet time and snuggling downstairs for a bit.

Sometimes she gets to help with her lunch or dinner...like sprinkling on the cheese or stirring things, and she gets so excited with helping. Also, before we go play in another room in the house, she helps clean up, and same thing when we are outside. Oh and when I do laundry I let her help put things in the basket after I fold them up...she loves this too!

I think the big thing is looking for things to do in your community, and that gives you lots more options of things to do, and new places to go to.

Hope this helps :)

we get up, have breakfast, they play for awhile, i clean, check email, then we might shop or garden or go to the park, or go have ice cream, then i rollerblade with a racing stroller, and the oldest has her bike or scooter., every three days we play in the pool. every monday, story hour at the library. usually the oldest ha a playdate like 4 or 5 times a week. all days vary actually. But consistently its basically messing up the house, cleaning it again, the children getting dirty, cleaning them again.lol
