At Home Sitters

I am looking for some sitters in my area for a full time during the day situation. I am currently working, but would like to look for someone for after I have my baby. I also have a 1 year old with my neighbor now. I would ask my neighbor to watch her and my new little bundle of joy, but her actions are really bothering my lately. I have recently called some local Village Halls to get a list of sitters and I am going to call our church. Does anyone have any other ideas on how to find a lower costing at home sitter? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!!
C.

try sittercity.com or care.com.

They have lists of sitters in your area, many complete with background checks and references. You can see what they are asking $ wise, their avaliablity, and if they are willing to do in home or in their own home. They will also advertise on their if they are willing to do trips to the park, playplace, library, etc.

Hope that helps! Good Luck!

I just posted an ad on SitterCity.com... you can post for free for seven days to see what kind of responses you get, but you have to pay a small fee to respond to anyone. I haven't interviewed anyone yet, but I got a ton of responses.

Contact the YWCA, they will for a small fee provide you with a list of home daycares in your area and give you some facts about each too. I used it years ago, but don;'t have the phone number any more to pass along. You can try calling the YMCA to get the phone # if you cannot find it. It was a very nice service they offer. I think it was $5 or something like that. Good luck.

Well, it sounds like you're looking for a nanny, not a sitter. You could call around to local agencies and/or put an add in local papers (this is how I got my nanny position).

Just make sure to VERY thoroughly interview and background check every applicant. Insist that the person you choose have (or be willing to get) infant first aid certification. They should have their own vehicle to go to and from, your house. And anything else that's important to you: discipline beliefs, experience, etc.

Good luck :)
