At Home Work - Virginia Beach,VA

My husband & I have fallen on very hard financial times. We are unsure if we will make rent. I am a SAHM of 3 with 1 due in Aug. I cannot work outside the home, due to the high cost of daycare. All of my children are below school age. So, I am looking into at home jobs that do not require me to sell anything. My husband is required by our checkbook to work a minimum of 70 hrs a week, and he is struggling at work. He does make good money, but the fact that we have so much debt and so many bills that have popped up, we still cannot make ends meet. I have offered to get a job for when he is off, but he is not okay with that, since he will have to take care of the kids after his long, busy days. So, a job at home seems to be the only answer for me. Does anyone know of anything I can do that would require little to no startup money, and that I would actually be able to make money? I love the accounting field, and would love to do bookkeeping type of work from home, but I don't know if that's even an option. I do not trust all that I see on the internet, since a lot of websites are just scams. Please help!

What can I do next?

J.,
I do not have any idea what to do at home, my hubby and I are in the same situation. I do, however have a few ideas to help you cut the costs you have. Some are basic things most people don't think to do but can save you a lot of money. Clip coupons, I only buy name brand things IF they are on sale AND I have a coupon. Shop around for your groceries and stuff, take a Saturday and go to a few different grocery stores and write down the cost of the things you always buy and compare them, if you can get them for cheaper by slpitting up the stores you shop at, why not. But go by yourself, so you can pay attention to what you are doing.
I also called our credit card companies and asked for a lower interest rate. I told them we were going to file bankrupsy if I couldn't lower the payment and interest rate and they dropped the rates for me, as much as 8% in some cases. If you threaten to file bankrupt, they will work with you since they know if you do file they don't get any of the money you owe, but if they work with you, they will eventually get their money. If you have loans, call them and see if you can apply for a new loan to pay off the old one and lower your payment, it will stretch out the balance, but the payment will be lower and more managble. Also, I would suggest starting a savings account or getting some type of insurance like AFLAC for your hubby incase he were hurt at work, you guys would be up a creek without a paddle or a boat. Also you should look through the stuff you have and sort it out and consider having a yard sale or posting stuff on Craigs list. I discovered so much stuff that we had and didn't use and in one weekend we made $200 at a yardsale. And we still had a little stuff left over.
Also, if you have a hobby, like painting or plastic canvas or stuff like that, consider selling some of your work, it won't be like work since it is your hobby and you enjoy doing it. I offer dog sitting services since I love animals and I can make some good money.
Good luck and God Bless, if you would like more ideas message me and I can give you hand.
S.

We're in pretty much the same boat. We've got 3 kids under 3, and hubby works about 65 hours a week. The cruddy part there is that we had to buy a new car to fit three carseats in, so now we have a car payment too. ugh.

As a pp sugested, go through and see if you can de-clutter and earn some extra cash too.

I've been selling some extra baby stuff we don't need, kids toys, and general household junk on craigslist. Also been selling books and movies we dont want on half.com

A couple of months ago, we did a reconsolidation loan to put some of our credit card debt at a lower interest rate.

Also, since on most nights dh isn't home, I make simple cheap dinners, since it's just me and the kids. mac n cheese wtih hot dogs cut up in it, grilled cheese sandwiches, that type of thing

I mostly stopped drinking soda, and drink tea instead when I want a sweet drink.
