So What Happened?

I will like to say thank you to all of my responses, I have to see now what would be the best route for us, and sometimes things can be difficult. I know therapies are best for our Autistics children, however not all Insurances cover and it becomes costly specially if there is only one income provider.....I want the best for my child and I know we all do, this is to why we need to try to get the help our children needs, and I know early Intervention is very important, I am trying to get Amerigroup to cover the Therapies that my son needs according to his condition (Speech and Occupational) and it has not been easy, my son should be getting CMS do to his diagnose, however because my husband making a little more our son was drop to Amerigroup, now we pay more for the Insurance and less benefits.

Do you mean Biofeedback? Never heard of the other. I would not waste my money, I would be willing to bet that it is not covered by insurance either. There are a great many people who will take your money though. If this really worked, we would all be doing it, and everyone would know because it would be front page news. Sorry.

Slow and steady wins this race, and standard care. There is no cure, wish there was, but there is not. Stay away from the places that offer you too good to be true outcomes. Unless you have a ton of money that you can waste on things outside the standard medical and theraputic community, you will just be delaying and intervention that will produce progress, which is the most you can hope for. ABA, play therapy, cognative behavioral therapy, speech and langague therapy, OT, physical therapy, social skills classes, and educational and behavioral interventions at school will produce results and progress. You can spend a lot of money if you go looking for a cure. If your Developemental Pediatrician did not recomend it, just don't waste your money. If your child has not seen a developmental Pediatrician, get an appointment and a full treatment plan as soon as they can see you. That care is worth any money you spend on it. Time is the only thing you have that is free, and if you waste it, you can't get it back. Good luck. MR

Neurofeedback should not be done until all the bottom parts of the brain have been integrated or you will be wasting time and money. Reflex integration is the first thing a child has got to do. Special needs kids should get a bottom up approach rather then a top down as most other traditional therapies will do. When you go bottom up things stick and are retained, anxiety, motor planning, gross motor, fine motor, speech, social, all kind of develop naturally and not have to be taught. Neurofeedback has no place in a child who still holds the diagnosis of autism. PM me if you need more information.

Neurofeedback is designed to help someone consciously shift their brain activity based on visible feedback via a computer program that takes data from their brainwaves (EEG). It is used a lot with ADD/ADHD but not much with autism. For autism spectrum disorders it might be helpful, though I would think that combinations of biomedical therapies (detoxification and nutrition) with energy system balancing therapies (acupuncture, energy psychology, neuromodulation technique, reiki, craniosacral therapy, vibrational sound therapy, etc.) would help the most with autism. I'm a mental health professional and have worked a lot with holistic therapies for a variety of psychological and neurological issues.
