Nothing to worry about. My youngest did not get his first tooth till the week of his first birthday. I was slow to get my teeth in as well.
The later they are coming in the healthier and stronger the teeth are.
My baby boy is almost a year old and only has 1 tooth and it is not any of the front ones. It is an eye tooth. Has anyone experienced this situation? I keep thinking they are coming, but I am beginning to think they will never come. My husband jokes that he will be the only 1st grader that has only 1 tooth. Like I said, I am curious.
Thanks for all the responses. It is very comforting knowing people are in the same situation.

My daughter was 11 months old before she had any teeth. I was concerned about it too. My daughter is now 3 1/2 and has a mouth full of teeth!!!
Don't stress too much about it. In fact I was talking with a friend of mine yesterday about this and she told me her little girls were way past a year when they got their teeth. My first son got his first tooth late close to a year and my youngest has one that has came out all the way and 4 others that are just poking through the gum. Not to worry, he will have a full set of teeth before you know it!
A friend of mine had a baby boy whose upper canines came in first. It worried her even though she joked about him being a baby dracula. The doctor told her to wait and see how the others would come in. The rest came in normally.
hi A... i havent been through that my daughter has 13 teeth and almost 13 months old.. but all babies are differnt i have friends that their babies only got one or two before they were 1 they will come dont stress.. i thought it was strange to get two when she was 4 months old.. one good thing you havent has to go through the horrible nights with cutting teeth yet!! well good luck i wouldn't worry too much i dont think there has ever been a baby that never got teeth :) all the best! K...
I didn't get my first tooth till I was 10 months old. And I didn't lose my first tooth till I was 8. All children develop at their own rate... the milestones are just averages. I wouldn't worry too much. You still have a long time till first grade :)
One of my twins cut his first tooth at 14 months.
Someone else just asked a similar questions a week ago and got 25 responses which you may want to read as well:

I wouldn't worry...My daughter only had one tooth when she turned one-it was the bottom front which is more common to come in first-and there are lots of kids who turn one and have no teeth. My Dr told me that sometimes is better to come in later when they are off the bottle or breast and not eating when they go to sleep. I have also heard-no sure if this is true-that they will lose their baby teeth later.
My son was almost 18 months before he got any teeth -- but boy did he have tough gums! He's a lot older now and all of his teeth are in -- we've even had to remove his wisdom teeth.
He did have all of his primary teeth before starting school.
I told him that God wanted him to have more time to learn how to brush them right -- the later they get their primary teeth, the later they will be to get their permanent teeth. We should have spent more time in learning that activity than tying shoes!
It's interesing it was an eye tooth -- but not every child is the same, thank goodness!
I'd bet if you look at your child's gums, the white spots in the bottom and top middle are the teeth ready to poke through in their own time.
Patience! (It's easier to tell someone else to have patience, 'cause I sure didn't!)

My son & my neice are both about to be a year old (they're a month apart). They were both almost 10 months before their first tooth came in & my sister in law & I both found it strange that their first tooth was in fact one of their eye teeth. I had never heard of that before. Then the other eye tooth came in a short while later. Finally, the bottom two & top two came in together. I have four kids & my first three all had their teeth come in the way I assumed teeth always come in which is bottom two, top two, eye teeth, etc. I thought something was wrong with my youngest too until my sis n law said hers was going through it too. I still have questions about it but all of his teeth are coming in (slowly but surely) so I'm not too concerned. You might call your dentist & explain it to them & maybe they can offer a reason why they're coming in that way. I think I will do the same just because it's unusual & I'm curious...lol. Hope I helped you!

yes totally normal!! i was kind of concerned too when my son didn't have any teeth till 11 mths either and then it was just the bottom 2 front ones until after 13 or 14 mths. Now he is 20 mths old and still is getting his teeth in - in a weird order. he has molars now but still doesn't have all the front teeth or the others in-between. every time i have asked i get the same response they will all come in eventually. i think the only negative would be that my son has continued to put things in his mouth longer than most his age just because he still hurts occasionally.
also, my younger brother got his 2 top eye teeth before any others - he looked like dracula - now he has beautiful teeth!!
I wouldn't worry about it. My daughter got her first tooth at about 10 1/2 months. She also took a long time losing them. My son, on the other hand, had one before 6 months old. Each child is different.

completely normal, every kid has their own schedule for teeth, you can ask your pediatrician at your 1 yr well child if you want a professional oppinion
Some babies are late bloomers in the tooth department. Make a call to your dentist and pediatrician, ask them when to worry.
My oldest daughter was late getting her teeth and I had several friends assure me that it was fine. She finally got one tooth, then a few weeks later she got another. Maybe a month or so after that, all four of her top teeth came in at the same time. Also, just as they predicted, she was later losing her first tooth.
Not to worry. My 3 daughters all got their first tooth after they were a year old. They walked before they had teeth.
My son got his first two teeth at 9 months and then at 12 months got five more, all within a week of each other. Each kid is different and I'm sure the teeth will come in in time.
Hey A., my oldest only had his front 6 teeth till he was almost 2. they stay healthier the longer it takes them to cut them. if you're really concerned take him to the dentist and get them to do x-ray's...that way you know they are there...R.
I haven't had this situation, but I know that kids' teeth come in differently. As with anything, I'd ask your pediatrician if you're genuinely concerned. And just wait. Some kids don't get any teeth till after their first birthday!
No worries. Late bloomer ; )

My oldest son didn't get his first tooth until he was 13 mos.old. He had a mouth full by the time he started school however, his friends lost baby teeth long before he did. Infact, at 13yrs he only has 8 permanant teeth. He's been in braces now for almost 2yrs and has a while to go. You may want to find a pediatric dentist to better anwser your questions.
Good Luck!

P.S. I'm a mom and step-mom too.
