Okay we are making our own baby food. How did you keep track of the baby food you stored in the freezer? I want to make some of it ahead of time but don't want to forget what I've made! :)

Thanks!

What can I do next?

I hated ice cube trays! First off, my boys ate 9 at a time, so the volume was way too small. I bought baby food in jars when they were on a super sale, or when I needed some for trips (when refrigeration wasn't available). Then I snagged some of the cardboard "trays" from the baby food at the store. That helps the little jars stack neatly in the freezer.

To label them, I simply wrote on the jar with a permanent marker. The marker stays on in the freezer, but washes off in the dishwasher. Perfect!

I froze my baby food in ice cube trays. Then popped them out and put them in ziplock freezer bags, labeled and dated them. My boy went through them so fast we never had frozen baby food for longer than 40 days. (I make BIG batches) Have fun!

I froze it in an ice cube tray and then put the frozen cubes in containers and used masking tape to label and date it. I just rotated so the oldest was always the easiest to get to, although my kids ate so much, nothing was ever old unless it got lost. :) Have fun!

you could get a magnetic white board to put on your fridge. write the kinds you have made and the quantities (for example, peas - 3) and then when you take something out remove it from the board. then you will always know what you have and what you need to make at a glance.

Make the baby food.

Freeze it either in ice cube trays or in cleaned out plastic or glass baby food jars (leave the lid open in the glass ones).

If using an ice cube tray, put 1-2 in a ziploc bag and label with date and food. Do the same with tape or a sticker on the glass/plastic food jars.

I'm sure if you google it (or look on amazon) they will have ideas for you to write down on tracking wise.

I froze my homemade babyfood in silicon ice trays (very easy to get the food out!), then once solid I put it into labeled ziploc freezer bags (the only items that don't freeze are bananas & avocado). I put fruits on one side of the freezer & veggies, meat on the other. I made sure to leave texture in the food, so it was not 100% smooth like the jarred stuff. This has been an incredible asset as our (now) 1 yr old is not a fussy eater! She easts spinach, parsnips, peas & carrots (mixed or seperate), papaya...she loves all kinds of food! This makes me a happy mom! Now the only hurdle we'll face is her school friends (when she gets to that age) going... "Ewww, what ARE you eating?!" Well...cross that bridge when we get there! ^_^ - JHB

I put mine in containers that are made to store frozen baby food. Then I use my label maker to print out the type of food and the date it was made. Put it on the container facing towards you when you open the freezer. This made it easy for me to see what was in each container and the date it was made.
