I am looking for a walk thru baby gate to put between my dining room and kitchen. It does have a while entry way of 41.5". We are looking for recommendations of a good gate or ones to completely avoid. What ones would you recommend?

What can I do next?

We just bought our 'North States Supergate Easy Close Metal Gate' from Amazon last week. And we LOVE it! It does come with expansion sets for wider doorways.

Stay away from gates that have any horizontal bars/horizontal locking arms, etc. My son was able to use these as a foothold to climb over the gate. (hence the new gate we just bought). :-)

A dog gate.

Taller. Sturdier. More user friendly. Prettier. Less expensive.

This is the more simple looking one I have all over my house. I do home childcare. I have the option of putting this in about 8 places in my home due to personal preference and licensing requirements.

This next link is to the fancy/pretty version of it. I would have gotten some of these if they had already been making them 10 or so years ago when I started adding them to my home. I wanted them all the same.

I love these Evenflo gates and as I said, have used for a busy home childcare home for 10-12 years (I also had a large 160 pound Newfoundland Dog most of that time as well). I would never buy another kind of gate. These have stood the test of time and durability required of my home business. There is something to be said for that! The fancy ones are sharp looking too for a gate you have to look at all the darn time!

Good luck!

we used North State plastic stair gate. It was easy to assemble to the wall and use.

If we wanted to open up the kitchen/ living room ( where it was located) and just block off the steps or another room it was easy to slide off the wall and use as a regular gate.

We made our gate out of pine 1x4s & lattice. It latches in the center & is mounted on each wall. When open, the gate is flat against the walls. Love it! We installed it for my daycare & for our dogs. Now our dogs are 80lbs each & can jump over it or pop it open with their heads. :)
