Hello - A few weeks back I'd asked for advice on a babygate at the top of the stairs that would let a cat through, and several people said that they have the same issue and they just raised up the gate (thank you for the advice!). But now I have another question - how high up did you raise the gate? Ours needs to be at least 4 to 4 1/2 inches up to let the cat through, but the gate that we bought said not to raise it more than 3 inches up. I really want one that screws into the wall for the stairs, and I want to make sure that we know exactly the height we need so that I don't wind up with a bunch of holes in the wall. Thanks moms for your help (again).
We have a gate up in the room with the litter box (mostly to keep the dog out). I just measured it and it is 4 1/2 inches. Our cat only weighs 10 pounds and she has plenty of room to crawl under. We probably could have lowered it more since she is so small. We never had any problems with our son trying to crawl under the gate....I'm not sure if that is why the manufacter has restrictions.
If you go to the pet store they have them. We have one that has a little opening in the bottom. My husband actually cut one of the rungs off because our dog could fit through. Now, our cat can & we don't have to leave the little door open. The gate says "Carlson pet products" is what it says on it.

We have a rambler with the litter box in the basement so my DH made sure to get a gate the cat can get through. We found it in the pet section at Target for around $60. I leave the cat door open only when my DS will be totally supervised because I don't trust that he won't get through it.
We had the same problem. I had one of those gates(sounds like the one you want) that had the brackets to screw into the wall. I don't know if they still make them this way, but ours you had to put the brackets on the wall, and then slide the gate into them. It still opened and closed the normal way, but you could slide it off by lifting it up if you wanted to temporarily remove it. POINT BEING...it had enough give so when the cats crawled under it, it would just slide up a bit and then back down. We have pretty big cats too. They still had to REALLY slide through it, but they could do it. I hope this makes sense, and works for you! Good luck!
