The price of the gift should not matter. You should get something the baby will need. A lot of ppl buy clothes but you could buy diapers & wipes this may sound junk but really comes in handy.
I like to create a gift bag/or basket of items like diapers, wipes, powder, shampoos....
Good Luck

It just depends on the person. If I know them well, or its a family members, then I will be committed to spend $100. If its just a friend or coworker, then about $45.

depends on how well I like/know the person. 20-50 bucks.

I think its in the Quality and not the Quantity that counts. I live near an Outlet Mall so whenever I get an invite to a baby shower, I head straight to the Carter's outlet. I get some complete outfits for around 5 dollars! I usually find beautiful things at a reasonable price so the new mom has several outfits instead of one or buy one outfit plus an item from their registry.

Just like most people, the amount I spends is based in part on how well I know the person. Another factor, especially these days, is how much I can afford. Sometimes I've gone in with another person to get something bigger than either of us could afford on our own.

Usually my gifts average around $25. Being that so many registered gifts are big (car seats, strollers, high chairs, pack n play), I find it more "bang for the buck" if I can chip in with a few others to buy a more expensive gift.

I'm on a tight budget and the the last shower gift I gave was about $10. I simply downloaded my favorite lullabies for my little one and made a CD. I think the mom really appreciated the uniqueness of the gift. The Carter's suggestion is a good one below also - they always have things on sale really cheap. Macy's often has a good clearance kid's clothes rack as well.

Spend whatever you feel comfortable spending. You are there to celebrate her special day. I normally spend between $30-$50 for friends and $50-$100 for family.

It depends on how close to the person I am, but generally I'd say between $50 -$100.

People have been so generous with me and I know how much parents need things...

It depends on how close the person is to me, but if it's just any person, maybe $20-25, if someone close to me, $30-40, or if a sister, around $50, but it also depends on your money circumstances. If you can't afford much, there are really cute outfits for $10-15. Actually, I just remembered my 10 year old daughter went to a shower for an aide at school, and we just spent $10 on a cute outfit because it was just a shower at school and all the kids brought gifts, but I know she had other showers with her girlfriends.

I get the same gift for every baby shower I'm invited to. The new mom invariably tells me it was her favorite and most useful gift. And it only costs $12. It's a two year subscription to Parents Magazine.

Depends on your budget too. If you look on their wish list and see what they need and fits your budget will be fine. I go to Kohls, Ross, Walmart they have good items for great prices. And if you really like the person you will be able to buy a bit more for less. I've also made some of those Diaper Cakes those depend on what you buy to put on the cake they range from $30 and up. You will never go wrong with diapers and wipes.

It totatally depends on the person/baby for me. For my sis in law I spent around $50. Same for a super close friend. But ususally around $20 w/ or w/o a bag of diapers.

Hello, I actually spend different amounts depending on how close I am to the parents. If it is someone I am only aquainted with, I spend about $20.00. If it is a closer friend or family member (niece, nephew, etc.) I spend about $50.00. If it is one of my kids there is no limit :-)

I range anywhere from $20 to $120 depending on how well I know the person (like $20 bucks for a random coworker at a work shower, and $100+ for a sister or close cousin or something).
