What are some favorite prizes you have won or seen won at a baby shower. I want things that are useful and classy. Trying to stay away from food items and anything scented such as candles and soaps. I also don't want to spend a lot. I will be getting about five prizes but since I am paying for the whole shower of 40-50 guests, I would like to keep it reasonable. Thanks!
Thanks everyone. I like the idea of going to Pier one or a similar store and looking in their clearance section. I also like the $5 Starbucks card idea. Thanks for all of your suggestions.

Set of 4 wine glasses
Basket with a block of cheese, crackers, jerkey, tiny jar of hot mustard.

Small framed mirror
set of 4 hand towels in a pretty color
Spring is coming so a flower pot and some bulbs/seeds.
All the showers I've ever been to have been gifts to give to the mom to be so it doesn't matter what they are as long as they are gifts the mom to be wants or needs.
I have done potted flowers for center pieces and they were the prizes. Even $5 to starbucks is nice and I dont even drink coffee.
**ETA** I remember doing a shower and we hit up pier 1 clearance and found really neat compact mirrors, cosmetics bags, satchels, candles, etc. They were really beautiful and useful, plus as a hostess priced nicely. the candles were more decorative and I do not think they were scented at all.
Are gift cards okay? I always loved getting gift cards at work for various things.

I just attended a shower last weekend & the prizes, there were only a couple since we only played 1 game (woohoo - I'm not a game person), were handmade from the hostess. She crafted two lovely wreathes in a heart shape as it was right before valentine's day.
Are you good at crocheting, making wreaths, arranging a bouquet,hand-painting signs, etc... Something cute & handmade that wouldn't take forever to do or cost a ton of cash.
Even better...delegate! I'm sure a couple of the other friends coming to the party would love for a way to help, especially since you are providing everything else. Call a couple of close friends that are crazy talented & ask for their help. It can't hurt to ask!

I just did a shower for my brother. The main prize was a scentcy warmer with welcome home and happy birthday scent bars. One of my coaching/mom friends is a scentcy rep and I bought it from her half off.
The other prizes were fancy Chocolate (I know you said no food).
My own shower 10 years ago we had snowman candleholder centerpieces that were also prizes and a nice Chrystal bowl from a local glass artisan. Then umbreallas (kind of a gag-but always useful)
